📢 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT RE: FOOD TRUCKS AT EAGLE RIDGE MALL 📢

Hi everyone, Curtis Gibson here, Property Manager of Eagle Ridge Mall.

I want to clear up some confusion regarding food trucks setting up on the mall property. Recently, there has been some misunderstanding, and I want to make sure everyone has the correct facts and information directly from management and local law.

First and foremost: Food trucks cannot park on private property, including the Eagle Ridge Mall, and operate without explicit permission and proper city permitting.

To help our local food truck vendors navigate this, please understand the exact requirements under the City of Lake Wales Code of Ordinances:

City Ordinance Section 23-358 (Mobile Food Vending): It is unlawful for any business to operate a food truck within the city limits without a valid Mobile Food Vending Permit issued by the city.

Property Owner Permission is the Law: Per city code, obtaining this permit to set up at any location strictly requires an official authorization form signed by the legal owner of the physical property. Pulling up and selling without this signed owner authorization and city approval is a violation of city code and carries civil penalties.

Mall Management Policy: As the Property Manager, I cannot personally grant individual food trucks permission to just pull up and sell.

Event Exceptions: We do host events at the mall where food trucks are welcome! For these specific dates, the mall secures the proper permits through the City of Lake Wales. If you want to participate, you must coordinate directly with our designated event coordinator when we are actively promoting an event.

Why do we have these rules?
Our indoor tenants invest to operate their businesses inside Eagle Ridge Mall. When unauthorized food trucks just pop up in the parking lot, it directly impacts their livelihoods, and it isn't fair to the brick-and-mortar tenants who invest in our mall community daily. This is why we restrict food trucks strictly to our approved, permitted events.

What happens if a truck sets up unauthorized?
If you choose to come to the mall to operate at your own discretion without being part of an official event, you will be asked to leave. If you choose not to leave or continue to return without city permits and owner authorization, you will unfortunately be trespassed from the property.

We love local business, and if you want to open a business *inside* the Eagle Ridge Mall, our arms are wide open to welcome you! But we must respect the local ordinances, the city codes, and our current tenants.
