For anyone who wants to invest in cycad seeds, this is the best deal I've ever made. I am assuming these will be the last cycad seeds I make commercially available. I haven't pollinated anything this year and don't know if I will do it again. I'm not going to go through the details of the seeds, but you will see it a couple of posts down.

I have about 190 Zamia variegata seeds that I normally get $2.25 each
I have about 200 of the Zamia called The Jamaican Giant that I normally get $2.25 each
I have what looks like about 400 of the special Zamia integrifolia I'm growing that I've called, the Stiff Upright coontie that I've been getting 80 cents per seed.
These are close numbers, but if there are a few less, or a few float by the time you get them, that's just part of the deal, which is...

Thanks, I have really enjoyed making seeds of endangered species available all over the world over the last 30+ years. I have met some really nice people and no so nice people. I've dealt with packages taking 4 months to be delivered, to rats eating into the boxes at the post office in India, and eating some of the seeds. (After the second time it happened, I covered the inner packaging with super hot pepper materials, and they never touched the seeds again 😂) I've been able to help some great people put together breeding colonies of cycads too. Most people are not familiar with Dyckias. Dyckia is a genus of true terrestrial Bromeliads. The majority of Bromeliads in our landscapes are epiphytic plants, even though many are still planted in the ground. Dyckias have many advantages over many Bromeliads. Most Bromeliads die after they flower. A Dyckia can flower every year. I've been told that a single plant can live over 100 years. The landscape types I'll be talking about just went through 17f with just a little spotting on some of the plants, so they are very cold hardy. These also love being in full sun, and in fact, they have the best color in full sun. Dyckias are xeric plants, meaning they don't require a lot of water, but at tge same time, they react well to cultivation and produce more offsets.
I started growing Dyckias around 1995 and played around with them. I'd usually bring a few to the local plant sales. One day, a couple of the Disney cast members came over to the nursery to pick up some of my Cycad Special fertilizer and saw my Cherry Coke Dyckias in the nursery. The boss said, "you have Cherry Cokes? We've been looking all over for them". He told me that if I could have 100 seven gallon plants, and 100 three gallon plants, they would take them all over time. I went over to the nursery of the man who came up with this cultivation and bought $200 worth of smaller plants. It was one of the best investments of my life. After growing them out and splitting them again, I eventually made 100 of each size as well as keeping splitting material for the future. Disney bought these for years and other landscapers who worked for them bought some. So far I've sold just over $84,000 worth of Cherry Cokes. I later found Black Moon and Black Gold cultivars which hold a much darker color than Cherry Coke, which can fade in more shade. The area I have mine in now is too shady for great color, but it's the best place I had available.
I am now trying to clear the area where these plants are sitting. They have been sitting around fir years now. Some of the 7 gallon Cherry Cokes have 10 to ,maybe 12 heads, which are easily separated. A good sized head can become a sellable plant in 3 to 4 months. At regular price, someone could make 4 to 5 times your money in 6 months, but keeping cutting material ensures an inventory forever. 3 gallon Cherry Cokes are $20 and 7 gallon clusters are $60. The 3 gallon Black Moon and Black Gold are $25 and 7 gallons are $60. For anyone serious about growing these Bromeliads, I may let them all go for half price. This is only for these 3 types, but I have others that you have interest in. If you have interest in these, let me know. I am not going to ship any of these, they must be picked up.

The text below is from a previous post, but this is an update. I checked the seeds today. I threw out a few floaters and cut open some seeds to check their quality and to see how far along the embryos are. All the seeds, including the Ceratozamia hildae, have full sized embryos. For anyone who may not be as comfortable starting cycad seeds, I don't see a better time. It's hot out and the seeds need any excuse to germinate. I bet if you cleaned the seeds and soaked them in a bucket for a few days, you would probably get some to germinate. I still have plenty of seeds but I've sold some since the last post. I won't hold these for more than another month so if you want some, order now. If you buy quite a few of a kind, you may be getting a bunch of extras.

I have picked all my seeds for this year. So far, I have not pollinated any cones for seeds next year. This will most likely be the last year I have good numbers of seeds. I'm hoping to sell the collection. Today I float tested all the seeds and threw out the floaters, and have exact numbers available. At the end of this post I'm going to make an offer I've never done before after 30 years of selling seeds.
I have 159 Ceratozamia hildae seeds. This is my favorite cycad. It may be the most cold hardy cycad in the world. It looks like bamboo but stays controlled in size compared to real bamboo. All seeds are sold with a minimum of 20 and are $2 each.
I've picked the rest of the brown emergent Zamia from Puerto Rico. These are a brown emergent form of what people called Zamia amblyphylidia, and now, erosa. This is a very rare plant unless you have bought these seeds from me before..I have 110, these are $3.50 each.
I just picked my Zamia variegata seeds. It is a tall, upright growing Zamia with very few leaves. It is the only naturally growing variegated cycad, having small yellow spots on the leaflets. The concentration of spots varies from plant to plant and even leaf to leaf on the same plant. It is not as cold tolerant as these Caribbean Zamias. I have 199 and they are $2.25 each
A friend of mine brought in some seeds of a Jamaican Zamia that was not known in cultivation in the US. It had leaves that were five and a half feet long. The leaflets are thin like Zamia portoricensis. It has not been described yet so the name is just the Jamaican giant. I have 295, and these are $2.25 each.
37 years ago I found a special coontie in a nursery. It looked like the Palatka Giant with thicker leaflets. I eventually found our that these grew better in places like Phoenix because they tolerated that kind of heat much better than regular coontie. I call these the Stiff upright coontie. I have 555 seeds and these are $0.80 each.
If you are wanting seeds shipped out of the US, our postal service does not insure delivery once the package leaves the US. Once I send your tracking number, I'm finished. If the package doesn't get delivered, I'm not replacing seeds or refunding any money. Only one package has been lost in transit in close to 30 years, but I still have to give this warning. If this is not acceptable, which I understand if it's not, do not request seeds. I'd much rather stay with shipping within the US, if possible. If things are the same as last year, European countries are not allowing any kind of seeds coming from the US.

I've fertilized a lot of the cycads that are showing damage, and now it's time to start cutting the brown leaves off. I noticed one of the apecies on the female Dioon edule was pushing a big flush, so I cut all the leaves off this year. I haven't stripped them down like this since the worse freeze events we had around 2010. This can be a painful endeavor with standard nursery shears, but I didn't get poked once using a Fiskars Pruning Stik. I have used these for about 30 years. They are a godsend when trimming a big Encephalartos ferox. The shears on the end cut very well and the head angle can be adjusted if needed. Instead of having to grip hard to cut something, you only have to pull down the slide. If anyone here in the palm society remembers Hersh Womble, I gave him one of these and he almost cried when he tried it out for the first time. He hadn't been able to use standard shears for a couple of years because of his arthritis. If you need to be farther away from what you are cutting, you can pull the k**b at the end of the stik to activate the shears. I pulled out a new one to use in the pictures. It's great being able to the the leaves on the offsets without having to bend over. If you pull the slide a little, but not enough to cut through the leaves, it's great for picking up pointy leaves and placing them out of the way.
So for those who haven't seen these plants, they are very old Dioon edule plants that were brought into Miami in 1933 by the man who founded Fairchild Gardens. The long stem on the larger plant may be as old as 440 years. The smaller female is about 150 younger than the male. If any serious collector, or botanical garden wants to have this pair in your garden, they are for sale and this is a perfect time to move them. Besides the two gardens in Miami, I don't know of any other botanical garden in the world that has a Dioon edule the size of the male.
Here at The Cycad Jungle, it's business as usual. Certain cycads did get damaged but it's unlikely someone would be wanting to buy these particular plants. Several were Encephalartos plants with large multifoot long stems that only sell every once in a while to the right buyer. My place is by appointment only, but I'm available most days of the week. For anyone thinking about coming our to buy cycads, or Dyckias for that matter, for anyone who spends more than $1000 on plants in April or May, I'll give you a brand new Fiskars Pruning Stik. I just found 8 new ones still in their shipping boxes the other day. 😃

I've picked all the Zamia seeds for this season. I have Dioon edule seeds as well still. All types are sold in a minimal group of 20. If you want these seeds, I'm not sure how much pollinating I'll be doing in the future.
My large Dioon edule plants in my front yard are the Palma Sola type. They are known to be a little more tropical and can flush more often than some of the other types. These seeds are $1.25 each.

I have 2 different kinds of Zamia integrifolia seeds. Both are from types that grow to be large and have fairly wide leaflets.
I have exactly 26 Palatka Giant seeds. I'm going to call it a lot of 25 seeds that are $1 each. So $25 for these. SOLD
