Free Summer Writing Salon
Monday, August 10th, 6:30-8pm
Calling all writers!

Hopefully, you’ve been enjoying long slow summer days here and there, maybe reading on your porch, relishing the sight of fireflies and the sounds of NJ summers. If you are looking for a place to write, come join us at Howling Basset Books for a night of creativity and community. 

The program will begin with introductions, a literary meditation followed by a writing prompt. In the final portion of the salon, you can choose to share what you wrote (optional) with feedback.  It’s not a critique format. It’s the perfect opportunity to reconnect, gather fuel for your current writing project or hatch plans for a new one in a supportive environment.  You can also get a taste of our ongoing workshop series at Howling Basset on Tuesdays beginning in September—and, if so inspired, sign up!  Hope to see you there!

Save the date for Mourning Papers Vol.1 on Sat, Jul 11
for an evening featuring selected writers from Mourning Papers, Volume 1 (Fall/Winter 2025). Mourning Papers is a literary magazine exploring grief, joy, resistance, and New Jersey—carefully curated and community cultivated. (And if you cant make it, Volume two is scheduled for July 8th!

On July 25th we are pleased to host a special author event in honor of Lambertville's Zine Fest, featuring two acclaimed cartoonists, Jennifer Hayden and Emily Steinberg, both exploring personal storytelling and visual expression.

Jennifer and Emily will be discussing how to make comics and graphic novels, answering audience questions, and signing copies of Jennifer’s and Emily’s self-published minicomics as well as Where There’s Smoke, There’s Dinner. This event honors The Lambertville Comic and Zine Con taking place that day from 10am-4pm at the Acme Screening Room.
