Things aren't going well here.

And while I'm here...

Saturday I'll be at Mount Oval historic farm just south of Circleville, doing spoon carving.

I'll post some more info and links tomorrow.

Carry on.

Another Lily Fest survived, so I'm patting myself on the back for managing to attend all 3 days, and yes, we got rained on all 3 days.

Pics of remaining inventory will follow as soon as I've had some much-needed sleep. I'm fried.

Carry on.

I'm no videographer, especially when I'm on limited free time, but here's a walk-through of the Viking Village at Lily Fest this weekend. I've participated in this group for about 20 years, and it's always interesting to see how the village grows and changes from year to year. We have more crafters, folks working on projects and displaying tools, talking about Viking and Medieval culture. Kids trade small items with some of the Vikings, while parents take a turn at throwing axes. This year we've got a group of musicians occasionally strolling the camp playing an assortment of string instruments.

Love these reenactors! I've been involved in Living History in one form or another for almost 55 years. The Lost Viking Crew is the absolute best!

The weather forecast changes almost hourly, but we're close enough to start planning.

And that current plan is to attend Lily Fest on Friday and Saturday (with luck). Sunday will be the hottest day, and I tend to wilt after 2 days of early mornings and festival joy, so I won't rule it out, but it's unlikely.

The predicted storms and rain have been backed off a bit! The truck is half loaded, I pulled an all-nighter finishing some new wood mallets (why is there never the proper size drill bit?), and it's time to roll!

My sincere apologies to the people waiting for inventory pictures for mail orders. I got swamped by the heat wave, and two friends needing my assistance in totally separate circumstances, and I've gotten behind in my obligations. Now I've got a huge weekend festival staring me right in the face.

Soon.

Bear with me.

This coming weekend is Lily Fest, a long-standing, beloved tradition for Half-Axed Spoons being in the Viking Village. Due to me ending up in the ER the last two years at 93° suffering from heat exhaustion, dehydration, and a POTS flare, I'm watching the forecast like a hawk, trying to decide which days I will be able to be there demoing spoon carving in the village.

So! I cannot guarantee I will be there all day, every day of the festival. I will make the decision each evening and try to update here and on my personal newsfeed (Wolf CrescentWalker). I know this: if the temps hit 90+, I will definitely not be there.

Growing old is not for sissies, true, but it also requires me to take a long, hard, honest look at my ability to endure heat stress safely. I'm learning that lesson the hard way these past two summers.

More from me later as the weekend approaches and the forecast gets more reliable.

Carry on!

To all the folks inquiring about mail order...

I didn't get the inventory photos done in a timely manner. Apologies, but things have been, shall we say, distracting? here lately. I'm putting that little project on my to-do list, right near the top.
