Let’s hear it for freshly minted firekeeper and official Saphouse Operations Lead, Sophie Burke!

Sophie joins Mount Cabot Maple eager to dive deep into the science of maple sugaring. In a past life, Sophie earned a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of New Hampshire where her work took her to peatlands in northern Canada, Scandinavia and New Zealand. She brings with her years of experience in scientific research, remote fieldwork, undergraduate teaching and safety program development. Nowadays, she finds herself noticing the connections between her current and previous work with the added bonus of making something delicious much closer to home. 🍁🏔️

Our sugaring croo has grown! Let’s hear it for Sophie Burke, our Saphouse Operations Lead. A systems-thinking savant, Sophie is a freshly minted firekeeper and drysugarmaker, untapper and rig scrubber, and if you get a box of syrup in the mail, she probably bottled it, labeled it, and handwrote you the note. She’s a ringer and a gem, we lucked out bigtime!
