Coming to the gallery in November & December, Life Studied: Drawings by Mairin-Taj Caya and Mike Hawthorne
Inspired by their podcast of the same name, this exhibition at its core is about how a regular drawing practice strengthens the foundation on which future artworks can be built. Sketches shown alongside finished drawings reinforce the importance of observation and iteration. It speaks to the idea that not every drawing made needs to be something more. A sketch can exist as a sketch, and it doesn’t need to be "complete" to be useful.
The act of drawing also makes room in our lives for other considerations to happen simultaneously. It's an action that requires us to slow down, take time for ourselves, and connect with something physical.
Stay tuned for a preview of installation the first week of November ahead of the opening reception on First Friday 11/6!
