I had a conversation today at a community yard sale with a fellow entrepreneur.

Everyone loves the adrenaline rush — the excitement, the treasure hunt, the thrill of finding something great.

But the truth is, most businesses aren’t built on those moments.

They’re built on the everyday routine — showing up, doing the work, listing the items, and building your inventory every single day.

It’s not flashy, and it’s typically not the part people put on social media. But the consistency of your routines and actions is what builds the consistency of your income.

What does your everyday routine look like when you’re building your business?

Sometimes the biggest improvements come from making an adjustment.

In sports, a hitter might change his batting stance. A pitcher might add a new pitch. Sometimes a player even switches teams or equipment to find what works better.

Business can be the same way.

Today was one of those adjustment days for me. A little outside the norm… maybe even a little scary at first. But sometimes the biggest risks lead to the biggest growth opportunities.

What’s a change or adjustment you’ve made that ended up making a big difference?

This morning at church I heard a line that stuck with me:

“Good roots bring good fruits.”

It made me think about business and the work most people never see.

Sorting and organizing inventory.
Processing new buys.
Late nights photographing and listing.
Building systems to store and track everything.
Doing the small, repetitive work day after day.

Those are the roots.

From the outside — especially on social media — people see the wins. The sales, the deals, the exciting moments. But what they don’t see are the roots: the long hours, the systems, and the quiet work that made those results possible.

Just a reminder today — if you’re putting in the work that nobody sees yet, keep going.

Good roots bring good fruits. 🌳

What are the roots you’re planting today that will produce fruit later?

Garage sale season is one of the best sourcing windows of the year when you’re looking to increase profitability.

Low entry prices and motivated sellers create opportunities to acquire quality items with significant margin.

Those opportunities don’t replace the day-to-day work of building a business, but they can provide the kind of wins that strengthen profitability for the entire year.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever found at a garage sale?
