This year’s harvest at our Landenberg farm was truly a team effort!
The potatoes were planted in the first week of May with the help of our Stock QC crew, Miriam Patino Ramirez, Ariana Patino Ramirez, and Maria Garcia Martinez. Throughout the season, the team kept the plot w**ded, giving the potato plants room to grow. In early August, Ron Williams took the tractor through the field while Dan McKenna, Brad Sweeney, Megan Brook, the Stock QC crew, and Morgan Eagan followed behind to collect the potatoes. After curing and drying for eight days, they cleaned and sorted the harvest, which totaled 1,303 pounds of potatoes 🥔 for the Landenberg farm!
Here comes the onions! The seedlings were planted in May with Miriam, Ariana, and Maria, while members of the production crew, including Rose Daly, Marilyn Morales Tenorio, Jacqueline Escobar Sotelo, Marie Fuentes, and Daniela A. Ibarra, helped keep the onion row w**ded throughout the summer. Megan and Morgan harvested the onions during the last week of July and dried them for two weeks before Megan trimmed the tops and Rose helped distribute them into baskets.
The final onion harvest totaled 130 pounds! 🧅
A big thank you to everyone who helped plant, w**d, harvest, clean, sort, and distribute this year's crops. It takes a lot of hands to get food from the field to the farm, and apparently, a few people willing to follow behind a tractor picking up potatoes. 🚜~
Please note: In observance of Labor Day, North Creek Nurseries will be closed on Monday, September 7. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend!
