Happy shout to Gary Antuanne Russell (Polo Twone )!

Nicknamed “The Last,” this proud Capitol Heights native is a 2016 U.S. Olympian, 2014 National Golden Gloves champion, and the reigning WBA Super Lightweight World Champion. Russell captured his first world title in March 2025 and successfully defended it in February 2026, improving his professional record to 19-1 with 17 knockouts. The youngest of the legendary Russell boxing family, he continues the championship tradition established by his late father, Gary Russell Sr., alongside world champion brothers Gary Russell Jr. and Gary Antonio Russell.

A major milestone for Suitland. 🎓✂️

County and state leaders joined students, educators, and community members celebrated the Phase I ribbon-cutting of the new Suitland High School, part of a $335 million redevelopment project on Friday.

“Today is about much more than a building; it’s about an opportunity,” said Principal Andrew Green.

The investment will bring modern learning spaces and new opportunities for future generations of students, while continuing the legacy of one of Prince George’s County’s most well-known high schools.

For the Suitland community, this has been years in the making. Now the next chapter officially begins.

Prince George’s County is launching a major youth workforce initiative aimed at connecting young people with real career opportunities. 💼🚀

The program serves residents ages 15 to 24 and offers paid work experiences, job training, career coaching, and industry-recognized credentials. So far, more than 550 young people have applied, about 120 are already in training, and 79 have secured jobs.

County leaders say the goal is to create pathways into careers in fields like healthcare, IT, construction, transportation, and public service, not just temporary employment.

Interested? Applications are being accepted through Employ Prince George’s, and county officials say they hope to continue expanding the program.
