Please help the native vegetation grow along the South Branch Root River in Lanesboro!
We recently seeded the river corridor with diverse native plants and applied hydro mulch to our stream restoration project in town. Please respect the signs posted and stay out of the restored area while vegetation establishes. Each footprint can set back new growth.
Hydro mulch includes temporary cover crop that will give way to native species next year. The fast-growing cover crop in the hydro mulch helps keep soil in place during rain events and reduces sediment from entering the stream. This all supports the growth of the deep-rooted and bank-stabilizing native vegetation we’re establishing along the river corridor.
With your cooperation, this section of South Branch Root River will soon be a healthier, more resilient corridor for everyone to enjoy.
