Thanks to HSGL - Historical Society of Greater Lansing and Andrew MacLaney for posting these photos!!
Here is what they had to say!
“Photos capture the Bank of Lansing building at 329 E. Grand River Ave./329 E. Cesar E. Chavez Ave. in North Lansing/Old Town, both during and after its construction. The construction shot is dated July 10, 1928, while the post-construction image is undated but likely taken shortly after completion.
This Bank of Lansing branch opened its doors on October 1, 1928, and operated until at least 1986, with a variety of tenants moving in and out in the years that followed.
A modern photo from 2023 shows the building 95 years later, and by 2026, 98 years after construction, it has found new life as an Old Town thrift store. (That’s us!)
The vintage images come from the R.C. Leavenworth Collection at the Archives of Michigan, accessible through its “Michiganology” website.
I love history!!! ❤️
