It is SO HARD being this cute. So hard, in fact, that she can’t even hold her own head up — she’s fully resting it on a tree branch like the tiny weary supermodel she is. Rough life 😆

Apple here (along with her sister Raspberry) will be making her public debut at The White Dog this Sunday!

My friend Audra, whose family owns the most beautiful orchard in Palisade, came through big time!

We’re so excited to welcome locally made jams from a female farmer in Elbert, Colorado to our stand starting this week!

Third market day in the books - and wow 😌

I am still standing here in awe of today. We met so many wonderful new faces, and got to see familiar ones from our last two market days coming back to support us — and honestly, that meant the world.

The Highland cows were the stars of the show as always, and getting to just stand around and talk with all of you, hear your stories, watch you fall in love with this little farm stand… that’s the whole reason we do this.

And y’all showed up! We are talking sold out across the board:

🍞 Sourdough, banana bread, cookies, palisade peach cinnamon buns
🫐 Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and every heirloom tomato
🧼 Goat milk soap, lotion, shampoo & conditioner bars
🌶️ Salsa, coffee, and beef jerky
🎨 Kids’ Play-Dough sensory kits
🐂 And we’re now very low on beef tallow! I’ll be busy this coming week!

Every single item that sold today represents someone’s hard work — mine or a fellow female farmer & maker. We pour ourselves into everything we make, and grow, and do 🫶🏻

There’s something about Saturday nights.

I’ll be doing the last little bits of prep — pulling soaps, labeling the fresh eggs, taking warm cookies and breads out of the oven — and I get the same feeling I used to get on Christmas Eve as a kid. That “I can’t believe it’s tomorrow” feeling!

It’s not about the sales (though obviously that helps keep the stand up and running ☺️). It’s the anticipation of who’s going to show up.

Which families will bring their kids to meet the Highland Cows for the first time. What someone’s face is going to look like when they pick up a bar of goat milk soap and realize it was made from the milk from our very own goats. Or when they pick one of the wool products from our sheep, the ones I shear myself.

Watching people browse and choose — this jar, that hide, this jewelry from another woman-run farm down the road — it fills me up in a way I didn’t expect when I started this.

I think it’s because every single thing at the stand has a story behind it. Mine, or another woman’s who poured her heart into growing it or making it.

So when someone picks something out and it means something to them, it feels personal. It feels like a small piece of this dream getting to go home with someone else.
