Grandpa Gaming here. Remember a few weeks ago, when I let you know about my sale, where website prices would be the same as show prices while my condo was on the market? Well, I am happy to report that i have accepted an offer in it. Not as much as I had hoped for, but hey, it's a soft market.

Now the sale is still going in, because there a lot of things that could still happen, but assuming everything goes smoothly, the sale will be over in a matter of weeks.

In the meantime, I am in Mississippi this weekend fir Anime Town Biloxi. Cone by, say hi, and even compete in a tournament this Saturday and Sunday.

So a weird thing happened to Grandpa today. I was having a nice lunch at one of my favorite pizza places, and I got interrupted by a phone scam. Now this was one I haven’t experienced before.

Guy claimed to be from the courts in Las Vegas, saying i had missed a grand jury summons. Now, considering the life I lead, this is entirely feasible, so I didn't suspect anything at first. Eventually it became obvious that this was a phishing call, and he hung up as soon as I asked for proof of his identity.

What really bugs me is that I am fairly sure that one of the reasons I was targeted was my age. Now I didn't get hooked, but a lot of folks my age will be. We weren't raised in the information age, and weren't taught to look out for scams like this. Were were taught to be trusting, especially to people in authority. All i can do is tell everyone in my age bracket to be mindful, and ask you folks to tell your older friends and relatives to do the same.

The whole thing makes me so angry, I think I am going to play some classic platform and shooting games until I feel better about the world. I encourage all of you to do the same. Let me know how I can help with that.

Grandpa Gaming hasn't been doing as many shows as he would like, a lot going on.

One of the biggest things happening is that my condo is finally fixed up and on the market. This is great, I'm looking forward to not being tied to it anymore. The only problem is that until it sells. Im still paying for it, as well as rent on my new place.

I've decided that the solution is to hold a sale. From now until my condo sells, website prices are the same as show prices, no promo codes or anything else needed. This sale will last as long as the condo is on the market. The day after closing, prices go up to normal, so take advantage of it while you can. And tell your friends. And your family. And your coworkers. And random strangers who look like they might be retro gaming fans.

Grandpa Gaming is very proud of his top end Retro Box, the B.F.G. I think it does a heck of a job emulating such a wide variety of systems and games. I have done my best to make it the most complete and comprehensive retro gaming experience ever.

The only thing I am not enthused about is the external mechanical hard drive. I would prefer an internal NVME drive, that would be faster, quieter, and not take up nearly as much space.

Unfortunately this is not a realistic option. I was considering building one last year, when the price of the drive was under $600, just as a proof of concept. However, in the last year, that price has more than doubled, and i don't want to spend that without knowing that it will work.

With that in mind, I have a proposition. If any of you would like a B.F.G with an internal drive, let me know. You will provide the drive, new or used, I don't care. I will provide a Mini-PC. If I can't make it work, for whatever reason, I reformat the drive and send it back, no harm no foul. If I can make it work, I will send you the completed product, along with a fresh pair of controllers, and you will be the first person to own a B.F.G Deluxe. This product will be a website exclusive, not available for direct purchase at shows.

If I can pull this off, you will get a B.F.G with the ultimate in performance and portability, and i will get a new product. If you ate interested, then message or email me. In the meantime, stay safe and play classic games.

I have some news on the Great Grandpa box. The price is going to be going up soon. I don't want to do it, but the 1 tb sd cards i use for this unit have doubled in price since the beginning of the year, and i can't absorb that any longer.

The good news is that the increased price will come with increased value. For the first time ever, Grandpa Gaming will be offering a Retro Box based on the Raspberry Pi 5. This means increased performance for more advanced systems like N64, PS1 and Dreamcast. A number of those games that struggled onto the Pi 4 should do much better. And, as an added bonus, you will be getting Saturn games.

Yes, for the first time the Sega Saturn will be available on something other than the B.F.G. Now performance is actually pretty solid, I was surprised. To free up enough space on the sd card, I had to remove a lot of the fluff from the Playstation section. Things like demo disks, educational software, and other filler are gone. A small price, i think, to get the Saturn. If you really want that stuff, it will be in the PS1 section of the B.F.G

Grandpa Gaming has been keeping busy. Just finished Fan Expo Denver last weekend, and now this weekend, I am weirdly enough back in Denver.

Your favorite Grandpa is working his first ever tattoo show, Villian Arts in Denver at the National Western Center. It's all about expanding my horizons, and getting my Retro Boxes in front of folks who might not see them otherwise.

Now don't get me wrong. Comic conventions are my bread and butter, and I love doing them. But a lot of cons are showing diminishing returns, and i need to expand beyond them. In fact, if anyone knows an event i can do that they think would be a good return on investment, let me know. Never let it be said that Grandpa Gaming is afraid to venture beyond hos comfort zone.

Grandpa Gaming is back from his family errands and ready to be back on the road.

Spent the last week and change in my childhood home, helping my brothers clear out my late mom's house and settle her estate. She passed years ago, but my stepfather has been staying in the house. He is now in hospice, so the time finally came to wrap everything up.

Man, you never know how much stuff someone has accumulated until you try to sell/donate/throw it away. Also, the house has no Internet service, no air conditioning and a basement that smells like mildew, so staying there in 90 degree heat was no fun.

But that is behind me and I'm ready to return to my life. Leaving this Sunday on an extended road trip that will take me to Denver, Utah, and hopefully Anaheim and Knoxville.

P.S. I'm doing ok. I've known this was coming for years. My mom and stepfather lived good, full lives and I like the idea that some new family will raise their kids in that house, or maybe some other older couple will live out their golden years in it.
