Agree.. it's like nobody read the book.
Wonka was always a short character... From outer space... Gene Wilder made this character his own.. the factory was the body and Gene was the soul giving it a personality etc. yet completely different from the book. Depps version and probably the new one as well, keep missing the point. Wonka is not just an odd, whimsical tour guide on a tram ride at universal studios.
