This Sunday at 9:00 a.m. ET I’ll be on CBS Sunday Morning, talking CBSut many of the musicians in this famous photo, “A Great Day in Harlem” taken by Art Kane on August 12, 1958.

I arrived in New York just after this so I’m not in the photo, but I knew, was profoundly influenced, and/or played with many of the greats in it.

On Sunday, I talk with Mo Rocca about the musical icons in this, the most iconic photo in jazz history.

Trump vs trumpets! 🎺

This week, the Trump administration declared tubas, trombones, trumpets, and French horns a national security threat.

Brass instruments could soon face a 25% tariff on imports, parts, and accessories, as part of a wider push to expand tariffs on aluminium, steel, and copper. The six-page proposal, published by the Department of Commerce, uses the words “national security” nine times.
