On dad’s 70th birthday Jim & I took over the helm at the bookstore, making it 20 years of ownership today. As we enter into our 21st year (now as Sonlight Gifts in Lawrence), I reflect on the lessons he taught me about running a business like ours-
1) maintain a sense of humor
2) be kind & helpful
3) build relationships
4) marry someone to do the book work (😂)
5) a messy desk is a sign of a brilliant mind
6) do the hard things
7) be thrifty (he used one paper plate for months)
8. be positive
9) start with prayer, end with prayer
10) have fun
Thanks dad-for blazing the store path for 35 years prior. God certainly directed you, and you were faithful to where He called you to be! Happy 90th in heaven. We miss you.
