✨ A little grooming education moment! ✨
This sweet little pup had the kindest owners, and they truly wanted what was best for him. They simply didn’t realize what matting actually was or how quickly it can happen.
From the outside, a dog may just look “fluffy,” but underneath that fluff can be a solid blanket of tight mats. As you can see in these photos, his body had to be clipped very short, while the hair on his head and tail came off in one thick, felted piece. Those mats were pulling on his skin with every step he took.
Matting isn’t just a cosmetic issue—it can:
🐾 Be painful
🐾 Hide sores, fleas (such as this case), or skin infections
🐾 Restrict movement
🐾 Trap moisture and bacteria
🐾 Make brushing impossible without causing discomfort
The good news? His owners were incredibly understanding and wanted to learn. That’s all we can ever ask! 💕
If your pup has a coat that continues to grow, regular brushing at home and routine grooming appointments every 4–8 weeks can help prevent matting and keep them comfortable.
No judgment here—our goal is always to educate, not shame. We’re happy to show you the best brushes, techniques, and grooming schedule for your dog’s coat type. We love helping both our furry clients and their humans! ❤️✂️🐶
