Last night, we made a post featuring a campfire with a lovely lake and mountainous background, and asked who could come up with the mystery location first, to win a tshirt.

It was simple, but it ended up being the kind of post that really made me think. Josh is from the next town over, and I’m from all the way up in Central Maine - about 2.5 hours north of the farm. It has been wonderful to experience this new life, and I know for a fact and without a doubt that we were destined for this journey, but it has come with transitional challenges that are easier on some days than others.

I came from a world where I knew most everyone around me, and I worked so incredibly hard to get to that point. I used the challenges of life to try to inspire anyone that was in need of positivity, and I made the decision that helping others and helping myself would be the best way to live a good life. At twenty two, I bought a cabin in the woods next to the lake, I taught myself how to renovate it, and I dedicated myself to volunteerism on top of a normal work life. I did all of the things that positioned me for the kind of happy, comfortable life where you could run into the grocery store, and always see five friendly people you knew.

When I left town, I feared that would all disappear.
And for a while, it did.
I pushed through my task list with the goal of embracing brand new scenery, while growing in huge ways. It was quiet - I was nervous.

Then, I began to realize that all of the people that I gained over many years, were ONLY 2.5 hours away. Friendships started forming with our new neighbors, customers, and like-minded business owners from our surroundings. It started to click, and feel like ends were meeting.

And when every part of me felt selfish for keeping that little cabin up north, while taking on what felt like endless other responsibilities, Josh assured me that the cabin was going no where. My “soul house”; the one that nourished me as I grew into the human I am today, and the one where Josh and I started our life together. There are days that I wish I could pick it up and bring it with us, but then I remember how much that doesn’t make sense.

We LOVE that house exactly where it sits; Right next to so, so, so many people that we cherish and adore. Right in the middle of the state, giving us the freedom to go to places like Greenville, or Flagstaff Lake, or The Forks … the mountains, ponds, rivers, and woods of Northern Maine. The ability to integrate the new life of Christmas Tree Farmers and event venue owners, with the peace and calm that I started sewing together almost ten years ago, before I even found Josh.

A lot of things simply didn’t make sense; Why work so hard, to ultimately feel like you’re starting from scratch again? But now, finally, it makes all the sense in the world - We knew that it eventually would.

If you have something that you feel called to, you need to follow it and you need to allow it to take you.

If you have ever made us feel loved before we got here, I thank you, and you still live in our hearts JUST the same - no matter how far the distance.

And, if you’re one of the newer individuals in our lives that have made us feel like we belong here, with a brand new spark for life, I want you to know how much that has helped up settle into place.

This was a lot for a little post about the Northern Maine woods, but I’ve always believed that the greatest things can come from the smallest starts, and I mean that in every sense of the phrase.

Use. Your. Life. 🤎

We’ve had a very busy week with some fun, relaxing times in between, and to be honest, all I want to do is be entertained tonight…

SO - The first person to correctly tell us in the comments where we took this picture in the great state of Maine this past week WINS a Fallen Oak Farms t-shirt!

Bonus points if you tell us your favorite outdoor New England activity before we roll into the cool, crispy, crunchy, DREAMY fall air! 🍂🍁

Josh is the most wonderful person.
He is patient, he is kind, he works harder than imaginable, and he makes everyone feel seen.
I am so very lucky that I get to make him my one in a billion.

And with that… business is not just about the products or services you sell, and in my opinion, it’s more about how you got there and how you keep getting there.

Never forget to share those things, too. People will always be interested in what you have to tangibly offer, but I promise they care just as much about your life as a person. Likely, even more. 💕

When we say that it may be impossible to explain how exciting it feels to be preparing YOUR Christmas Trees for this upcoming season, we mean it.

Unexplainable… because I remember being the kid picking out a tree with family, and knowing that we can now provide that type of memory to others is crazy. Feels like we are creating the nostalgia that we yearn for, and that is what I consider a life well lived.

💚🌲🤎

We wouldn’t necessarily encourage drinking our grape soda for breakfast, but that doesn’t mean we won’t talk about it early in the morning! 🍇🥤

Yesterday, we shared with you the Drink Donkeys, which have quickly become part of our optional add-ons for Wedding Packages! We wanted to make it known that our old-fashioned sodas are also an add-on for ALL events, and come displayed and set up for you at your event in galvanized tubs over ice (OR maybe on the donkey’s back, depending on your plans)!!

If you’re thinking about a private event, this service, along with many others, are available to you (and we think they’re pretty cool)!

PS- Our sodas are also available in the farm store every time we are open! Our next business hours are Thursday, August 27th from 4pm-7pm during The Farmers Market!

🛍️ Shopping?
Mark your calendars for next Thursday, August 27th from 4pm-7pm for an even larger market than last week! We will have roughly fourteen businesses on site with their goods, plus the farm store will be open!

🥕 Wanting to sell?
We decided NOT to close vendor applications, and have a pick-and-choose system where you could come once all season, attend each and every time, or anything in between!

⭐️ For the Farmers Market, we are looking for items that you grow, raise, process, bake, or make in an edible sense OR through using products that you grow or harvest!
Apply here: https://fallenoakmaine.com/pages/the-farmers-market-at-fallen-oak-farms

🧶 If you’re more of a creator of handmade goods that don’t come “from the farm”, our Makers Markets would be perfect for you, and the application for our two upcoming dates is right here:
https://fallenoakmaine.com/pages/makers-markets

🗝️ Lastly, we’re scheduled to host a Vintage Market on September 4th and 5th, but we may either postpone this or consolidate it into the Makers Market, dependent on interest and participation!
If you have a cool antique of vintage collection, or if you are a reseller looking for an outlet, please feel free to apply!
