Every old homestead had a tree row that had nothing to do with shade or timber.

ELDER: flower and berry preparations treated fever and infection before a clinic was reachable.
HAWTHORN: berries, leaves, and flowers all used together as a sustained heart tonic.
BLACK WALNUT: hull preparations handled fungal conditions and parasites on working farms.
WILD CHERRY: inner bark boiled into cough syrup in every 19th-century household medicine chest.
SLIPPERY ELM: powdered inner bark mixed with water as a mucilage for gut and throat inflammation.
WILLOW: bark preparations used as the original fever and pain compound aspirin was later derived from.
WITCH HAZEL: distilled bark and leaf applied as an astringent for skin, bruising, and wounds.

This knowledge was not folk superstition. It was observed, tested, and passed from grower to grower across generations because it worked where nothing else was available.

The supplement industry did not replace this. It extracted single compounds from it, stripped the context, and sold the pieces back at a markup while the trees themselves were pulled for pasture or parking.

Plant a physic row. Seven trees, one deliberate succession, and you have rebuilt something that took two centuries to dismantle.

Looking ahead to 2028 already!!!

We'll be sending out a survey in the next week or so and would love to get your feedback on your conference experience!

And.......remember who you are! Stand in your power and your love! Be your authentic self and welcome your continued becoming! Sing, dance and pray with the plants - they know and love you!

In awe and feeling so blessed to have gathered with so many amazing women at this years Misty Meadows Womens Herbal Conference. We sang, we danced, and we learned together all weekend long. And maybe the most magical take away of all of this, was what the power of place can bring to your life. We we're welcomed home by the land through ripening hawthorn berries, blooming calendula flowers, and flying praying mantis. Feeling more connected than ever to this land that feeds us and provides us medicine. I hope you all feel this connection to land someway somewhere. If not, you always have a home here at Misty Meadows Herbal Center. Our shop is back open, the girls are back on the farm harvesting, and we are ready to help and full of inspiration from our magical time at the conference. Come on by, Thursday-Sunday ✨️🌻
