The official branding is here! Meet Lewis, the Well Read mascot.
In 1903, our building was home to Lewis & Duncan Grocery, making Lewis a tribute to this building's history. Lewis is also a family name, calling back memories of a great-grandfather who was, indeed, well read. Lewis is also a nod to Lewis Carroll, whose ๐๐ญ๐ช๐ค๐ฆ'๐ด ๐๐ฅ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต๐ถ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ด ๐ช๐ฏ ๐๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ reminds us that curiosity begins with following something unexpected.
As for the rabbit...
The inspiration begins with ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ๐ญ๐ท๐ฆ๐ต๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐๐ข๐ฃ๐ฃ๐ช๐ต, a story about how the things we love become part of us and how time, care, and shared experiences can transform something ordinary into something deeply meaningful. It's a wonderful reminder of what it means to become real.
The rabbit also carries a little of the White Rabbit's curiosity and Peter Rabbit's adventurous spirit. It's an invitation to step into something new and a hope that you'll feel free to explore while always finding your way back home.
The scarf and glasses? That's just a little tribute to the kid who grew up completely obsessed with ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐บ ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ.
Here we believe books are treasures. Carriers of memory, imagination, wonder, truth, and connection. Lewis represents the quiet way a story can change us and the belief that something meaningful is there, just waiting to be discovered.
Stepping into Well Read is an invitation to wander and discover without pressure. Explore at your own pace. Find something that feels like it was meant for you.
In a world that feels fast and noisy, I hope Well Read becomes a place to slow down, linger a little longer over the titles on the shelves, and get lost in a good story.
Shoutout and huge thanks to the team for nailing the concept.
