I read this IMMEDIATELY when it came out, and it’s honestly taken me this long to process how I feel about this book. It’s that big of a deal.

The is one of the biggest series I have ever read. Each book is over 1,000 pages long and takes a lot of effort to read. I don’t say that to mean they are hard to read, they take time. There are a lot of moving pieces and POVs so it takes effort. I cannot count the number of times I flipped to look at the map. 🗺️ The work pays off ten fold though. With such amazing characters and a really rich world with a TON of lore, politics, and magic. This series has everything, and discusses a lot of really important things.

However, this series is one that has changed my perspective, has given me SO many book friends to chat with, and I think about often. It’s a Roman Empire type series.

What’s your favorite book from the series?

*spoilers ahead*
Wind and truth was an epic conclusion, yet there was a weird feeling of things going too slow and also there being too much. I liked the 10 day count down and that things picked up right where they left off in the previous book. However, the books was a whole lot of build up for a battle that felt very unfair. I still don’t like the “final battle”.

I wish there had been more build up for Renarin’s relationship. The whole romance felt way too fast. They went from hey we are kinda buds to our love will save the world real fast.

Jasnah’s entire story line is amazing. I love everything she is going through and I am so excited to see what happens for her in future books. She really worked to find the balance between being a leader/ruler, and letting the people rule themselves. Also, her and Witt? 💋

If you ever wanna talk about these books. I am down.

These authors really know how to hit me right in the favorite character feels. So if you are looking to have your heart stomped on, here’s a few suggestions.

and the whole Everflame series.
and Fourth Wing
with the Way of Kings Series. Multiple offenses here, I honestly stopped picking favs.
with Red Rising. I’ll never forgive you for a few of them.
I am starting to wonder if he knows how to keep people alive and un-traumatized. I’ve yet to see it.
with the Throne of Glass series. I cannot think about Kingdom of Ash without mourning someone.
with The Outlaw Witch, you offed my favorite. I did shed tears.
you wrote a good death scene sir.

Truly Medley Deeply is adorable. Hands down zone of the cutest love stories.

It does help that the MMC is my romance book cat nip. Grumpy, kinda scruffy, talented at many things, humble about all of them, a really gummy bear on the inside. I couldn’t get over all of the quiet little things he does throughout the story to make her life easier. Never once does he point it out or ask for recognition or credit. Just does.

The backstories and plot in this book are huge. I don’t feel like can say much more without *spoilers*. So you should just download this book on Kindle Unlimited and have a grand old time.

Pretty please?! 🙏 it’s all I want out of my day.

I love audiobooks and lately that seems to be the only kind of reading I can get to. Lately though, I’ve missed sitting with a book in my hands and really devouring words on a page. There is something so relaxing about sitting and reading, really losing myself in a story and letting my real world problems fade away.

I’ve stopped trying to read while my kids are awake because the interruptions every 3 minutes of “hold this” “watch me” “mom can I?” Slowly drive me insane because I can’t get into the flow of the book. On the other hand, I want to read books in front of them to set the example, to show how books are cool and reading is a great way to use your time.

Is this one of those, you just can’t win moments?

This series was recommended to me by my dad, and he never misses when giving me a new book rec.

This series is packed with fights, intrigue, found family, and really intriguing world building. Basically everything I love.
Tavi is our main protagonist but the book follows multiple POV’s. Tavi has none of the abilities that equal power in this world, yet he shows time and time again that he is more capable than anyone realizes. He is the kind of protagonist that you really root for and hope to see succeed.

There are some serious Avatar the Last Airbender vibes throughout the story, but I tend to feel that way any time people can control th elements. The difference here is they have “furies”, whom I pictured as pokemon type creatures, who help them control the elements.

Do you also compare most elemental magic systems to Avatar?
