There’s a certain feeling that comes with Labor Day around here…

I imagine it’s a little like the feeling a teacher has on the last day of school. 😂

My mom was a teacher for more than 30 years, so I’ve always had a pretty good sense of that particular feeling. And while I’m sure teachers are feeling anything BUT that way today as they head into a brand-new school year, I’m feeling it today!

We made it. We survived. And suddenly there’s just a little more breathing room. 🍂

Today we switch to our FALL HOURS, and I have to admit… I’m pretty excited about it.

Don’t get me wrong—we LOVE our busy summer days, and fall weekends in Leland are still crazy busy. But after months of go-go-go, it feels really good to step back just a tiny bit.

A little more time to catch our breath, restock, reorganize and tackle the things that have been patiently waiting for us. A little more time to enjoy this beautiful place we’re lucky enough to call home.

So while the teachers are just getting started, we’re entering our own little version of “the last day of school.” 😂

Here’s to September, cooler mornings, changing leaves, cozy sweaters and the very best kind of busy.

Four hours on a boat on Lake Michigan.
Seventeen hours of sleep.
No agenda.
No to-do list.

Just wandering, exploring, eating, laughing, sleeping, and remembering how good it feels to have nowhere to be.

Yesterday was the first day I can remember since May that I didn’t feel completely frazzled.

Don’t get me wrong—it was still a busy, lovely day at Two Fish. But for the first time in months, it didn’t feel quite so much like I was running around with my hair on fire. 😂 There was just a little more room to breathe. I even got to sit down and eat my lunch.

There’s a slight chill in the air now, the evenings are getting shorter, and somehow we’re getting close to fall. 🍂 Usually by this time of year things are really starting to quiet down, although you wouldn’t have known it from our crazy weekend!

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year, and I’m looking forward to a little more breathing room—and hopefully a few more moments to stop, look around, and appreciate beautiful mornings like this one.

Maybe this is my first little exhale of the season. ❤️

There’s something pretty special about leaving work at the end of the day and getting this view. 💛

I snapped this Sunday night just as I was locking up after the closing shift, and I thought it was the perfect way to start a Monday.

The weather this summer has been absolutely gorgeous—not too hot, not too cold, just about as good as it gets. We’ve been soaking up every minute of it!

Around the shop, we’re still slowly chipping away at the cleaning and reorganization, with a few boxes still waiting to be unpacked. But we’re making great progress and looking forward to another busy week ahead.

We’re open every day from 9:30 AM–8 PM, and we’d love to see you stop in. 💙

A little peek at the not-so-glamorous side of Two Fish right now. 😂

We’ve been selling things off the walls faster than we can replace them, which means things are looking a little… haphazard around here.

Empty frames. Random gaps. A few things (or maybe a whole shop?!) that probably need to be moved around. And definitely some walls that are wondering what happened to all their stuff. 😂

Meanwhile, the boxes are pouring in to fill those empty spaces. The problem is, we’ve been so busy helping customers that we haven’t had enough time to actually UNPACK all those boxes yet. 😵‍💫 Even with the extra set of hands we added a few weeks ago!

But honestly? We thought you might enjoy seeing the reality behind the pretty pictures.

It’s been a wildly busy summer, and we are so incredibly grateful. Sometimes the best problem a little shop can have is having more merchandise waiting to be unpacked than time to unpack it!

So, consider this your official behind-the-scenes tour of Two Fish: beautifully imperfect, a little picked over, and currently surrounded by boxes. ❤️🐟

Well… that was quite a week! 😅🛍️

We’re coming off a busy Sidewalk Sale, reordering some of your favorite things, unpacking yet more new arrivals, and doing our best to keep up with all the summer shopping. It is STILL crazy busy around here, and we are definitely not complaining! ❤️

But we have noticed the sun is setting a little earlier, and that familiar shift toward fall. So beginning tomorrow (Sunday, August 9), we’ll be closing at 8 PM instead of 9 PM. Still opening at 9:30AM every day.

And since we’re starting to feel that little shift toward fall, I’m also going to start putting out a few fall goodies! 🍂 I don’t usually start this early, but I have some really great things ready to go—and I have a feeling some of you are ready for a little fall too. 😉. Sweater weather, anyone?!

Don’t worry—we’ve still got plenty of summer left, and we’ll be here every day making the most of it! ☀️💙. And judging by the number of boxes arriving around here… there will be plenty of new things to discover! 📦✨

It’s Sidewalk Sale week! ☀️🛍️

Here’s a little sneak peek of one of the goodies you’ll find outside at Two Fish this Thursday!

We’ll be set up by 9:30 a.m. and will keep the sale going until the treasures are mostly gone. 😊

Many of the wonderful shops in town will be participating on Thursday and Friday, but Two Fish will be joining the fun on Thursday ONLY —so if you’re hoping to shop our sidewalk sale, be sure to stop by then!

If you love discovering fun finds at even better prices, we’ll have lots of treasures waiting for you. Every Sidewalk Sale is a little different, and half the fun is seeing what you might find!

Before Leland woke up this morning… 💙

It’s not often you see this view so peaceful.

The lights are on at Two Fish, the moon is still hanging over town, and across the street, the Cove is still asleep before another day of burgers, laughter, and a deck full of happy people.

Before long, these streets will be buzzing.

This summer has been a whirlwind. We’re unpacking boxes almost as fast as they arrive, restocking shelves, even bringing in another team member to help keep up.

If you’ve stopped in this summer, thank you.

Whether you’ve shopped with us, enjoyed a meal at The Cove, explored Fishtown Leland or simply spent a day soaking up everything that makes Leland so special, thank you for supporting this little town we all love.

We never pass up a good pun… so this view has us “reflecting” on summer so far. 👏🏻💙

It’s been busy in all the best ways. We’ve loved welcoming familiar faces back to Leland, meeting first-time visitors, and helping so many of you find something that makes you smile.

Behind the scenes, we’re unpacking new shipments almost every day to keep the shelves full. At the same time, many of our one-of-a-kind pieces have already found their forever homes, so every visit to Two Fish is a little different. You never know what new treasures have arrived—or what might be gone.

Thank you for making Two Fish part of your Leland tradition. Summer isn’t over yet, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings. 💙
