WORKSHOP ON MAINTAINING HISTORICAL PIANOS, HARPSICHORDS, AND CLAVICHORDS
In Association With Catskill Mountain Foundation’s Academy of Fortepiano Performance

Participants will work side-by-side with expert technicians on museum-quality original and reproduction keyboard instruments. This workshop offers an opportunity to gain an understanding of the unique structure and mechanism of historical keyboard instruments as well as the basics of repairs, regulation and tuning.
Tuition $300, including 2 nights (single occupancy, $50 off for double occupancy) 7 meals
HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES:
Examine instrument structure, material, and mechanism
Disassemble and reassemble instrument parts
Regulate instrument action
Tune instruments into different pitches and temperaments
Locate instrument problems, identify causes, and try out repair strategies.
