September Member Spotlight -- Say hello to Teresa Hendricks, Owner and Founder of Lucia's World Emporium, our neighbor in the Warehouse Block!

Lucia’s (pronounced loo-see-uhs) is a more than just a store - it’s a great love story. The shop was founded on and connected through love, local artisans, and a passion for sustainability that brings everything together.

Back when Kentucky native Teresa was in college, she visited a small village in Guatemala near Antigua, where she fell in love with the local culture and met her husband. That semester abroad turned into 18 years of relationship building in Guatemala. Today, they still work with the same artisans to bring you clothing, jewelry, and bags made using traditional methods and materials. Teresa and her husband Eduardo opened Lucia's in 2007 after moving back to Kentucky with their two children. In the changing retail world, they launched an online retail website in 2016 and in 2018, opened a second retail location on the waterfront in Saugatuck, Michigan.

Lucia's is a cornerstone of the thriving business community on North Ashland Avenue. Offering a beautiful variety of fair trade and sustainable items, you'll find a gift or treasure for everyone you know! We love sending guests their way and our team regularly shops there.
