💡 You don't think you need more light… until you're trying to find something in the dark. 😂

Scene lighting, warning lights, compartment lighting, handheld lights… there’s a reason fire apparatus and firefighters have so many different lighting options.

When you're working a call at 2 a.m., standing on the side of the road, or digging through a compartment trying to find that one piece of equipment, being able to see what you're doing matters.

And not every lighting situation calls for the same solution.

At Piedmont Fire, we work with manufacturers like Streamlight, Will-Burt, Nightstick, and FoxFury to help departments find the right lighting for the job.

Because the best light isn't necessarily the brightest one. It's the one that fits the situation and does what your crew needs it to do.

Whether you're looking for a handheld light, scene lighting, area lighting, or something for your apparatus, we'll help you figure out what makes sense for your department.

Because when you're standing in the dark trying to find something, “I can kind of see it” isn't exactly the goal. 😂🚒

🔥 GET TO KNOW THE TEAM: BRAD WASHBURN🔥

Meet Brad Washburn, one of our Sales Representatives here at Piedmont Fire! 🚒

Brad has been with Piedmont for 14 months, serving departments across Henderson, Buncombe, Yancey, Mitchell, Avery, McDowell, Burke, and Catawba Counties.

A Fire Service Career That Started at 15

Brad joined Ashford North Cove Fire Department when he was just 15 years old because he wanted to help people. At 18, he was part of a search where he located two missing children. That experience had such an impact on him that he knew he wanted to pursue firefighting as a career.

Since then, Brad has served with Fletcher Fire Rescue in roles ranging from firefighter to engineer and lieutenant, worked as an engineer with the City of Morganton Public Safety, and currently serves as the full-time Chief of Ashford North Cove Fire Department, a position he’s held since 2019.

What does Brad enjoy most about Piedmont?

The people. Being a sales rep gives him the opportunity to reconnect with fellow firefighters and officers he’s met throughout his career while building new relationships and friendships with departments across Western North Carolina.

When it comes to equipment, Brad is especially passionate about LION PPE and the wide range of rescue equipment Piedmont offers. From water and rope rescue to vehicle extrication, he wants departments to know that Piedmont can help with much more than they may realize.

For Brad, working at Piedmont comes back to something that has mattered throughout his career: taking care of people.

“We were firemen before we sold equipment. We care about quality and affordability, and most of all, we care about customer service after the purchase.”

Outside the fire service, Brad enjoys life with his wife, Hannah, their two children, Dakota and Josie, and their Goldendoodle, Biscuit.

We’re proud to have Brad on the Piedmont Fire team and grateful for the experience, relationships, and dedication to the fire service he brings with him every day!

Why a 5-minute equipment check somehow becomes a 45-minute conversation.

Because someone notices something.

Then someone else has a question.

Then somebody remembers a call from three years ago.

Then suddenly you're standing beside the truck discussing equipment, hose, nozzles, and that one call that nobody will ever stop talking about. 😂

But those checks matter. Regularly looking over your equipment can help catch wear, damage, missing items, or problems before they become bigger issues.

So take the extra few minutes. Check the truck. Talk some shop. And if you find something that needs replacing, you know where to find us. 😉🚒

🚒 Behind Piedmont: What Does a Sales Rep Actually Do?

Ever wonder what our sales reps are actually up to when they aren’t sitting behind a desk?

Well… it’s a little more than carrying around a catalog. 😂

Our reps spend their days visiting fire departments, attending fire schools and conferences, talking through equipment needs, building quotes, helping with gear sizing, delivering orders, checking out apparatus needs, answering questions, and a whole lot more.

But honestly, one of the biggest parts of the job is listening.

Every department is different. What works for one department might not be the right fit for another. Our job is to learn what your department needs, help you find the right solution, and be there throughout the process.

And yes, sometimes that means answering the classic:

“Hey, do y’all have one of these?”

From the first conversation to long after the sale, our goal is simple: be someone your department can count on.

Because being a Piedmont Fire sales rep isn't just about selling equipment.

It’s about building relationships, solving problems, and helping departments be ready when it matters most. 🔥🚒

📚 Equipment Myth vs. Fact

❌ MYTH: Every fire nozzle works the same.

✅ FACT: Different nozzles are designed for different applications, flow rates, and firefighting tactics. Choosing the right nozzle can improve efficiency, enhance firefighter safety, and help crews perform more effectively on the fireground.

That's why it's important to understand your department's needs before selecting equipment. The "best" nozzle isn't the same for every department—it's the one that best fits your operations.

Whether you're considering a new nozzle or comparing options, our team is here to help you find the right fit.

❓ Ask the Piedmont Fire Team

Choosing fire equipment isn't always as simple as picking a product off the shelf. Every department has different needs, budgets, and operational goals.

Have a question about:

🚒 Apparatus

💦 Hose

🚿 Nozzles

🌬️ Ventilation

🦺 Turnout Gear

🔧 Equipment maintenance
..or anything else fire equipment related?

Drop your question in the comments. Whether you're comparing products, planning for a future purchase, or just looking for more information, we're here to help you make informed decisions.

Chances are, if you have a question, another department is wondering the same thing.

**💡 Did You Know?**

Fire hose can look perfectly fine on the outside while still developing wear over time from use, age, heat exposure, and internal stress.

That's why routine hose testing and inspections are so important. They help identify potential issues before they become a problem on the fireground and ensure your equipment is ready when you need it most.

If testing reveals it's time for replacement, Piedmont Fire offers trusted hose solutions from Snap-tite Hose to help keep your department prepared.

Have questions about hose selection or replacement? Our team is always happy to help.
