Static ATX Records have some slightly altered store hours this weekend. We're open our normal hours on Thursday and Friday, including our Funkadelic listening party at 5PM on Friday that we hope you can join us for. We have a TON of promo swag to give away including posters, stickers, and we'll do a drawing for a promo mug and hat we received. There are also a few promo CDs from

On Saturday, we'll be closing early at 4pm so we can make it downtown for the Levitation festival. We'll be at Far Out Lounge to see all the amazing bands there including Peter Hook & The Light, Ditz, Cabaret Voltaire, Automatic, and Molchat Doma.

On Sunday, we'll be back to our normal hours of 12pm to 5pm.

We have some fun New Releases this week including the new albums from Sylvan Esso, Adrian Younge, and Ibibio Sound Machine as well as the Funkadelic reissue of Maggot Brain!

The used record bins at the store are getting put back together. We're sorting them by "Modern" and "Classic" and then a few genre-specific sections. Here is a quick flip video of some of the new used I put out this weekend. There is still a lot more to go, I've been cleaning, sleeving, and pricing records for many hours.

We are now using labels on the sleeves that say what pressing it is as well as the condition. Should help you identify what you're after better.

We'll be back open this Thursday through Sunday. Hope you'll come by the store!

A reminder that we have a loyalty program, very cleverly named Static ATX Rewards. It doesn't cost anything. You just earn points when you buy stuff and then you can redeem those points for money off future purchases. Pretty simple.

What wasn't as simple was me making this graphic. I took the old one I made and decided to re-do it using graphics from a bunch of old punk albums I like. Some of the references are super obvious, others are more obscure.

Anyway, hope you're having a good weekend. I'm bored, been sorting used records. We have some new stuff available in the store, mostly more modern records but there's a couple boxes of classic rock in there too. Cleaning another couple boxes that should be out soon.

We may be light on the Beatles records, but we have plenty of Dolly! These Dolly albums have been in the shop a while, including that sealed original copy of Jolene. The legend may have passed but her music will live on forever.

Just as I was making this post it crossed my mind that I should maybe put these online so people that don't live here can buy them, but I'm not emotionally ready for that just yet.

An impromptu listening party for the new Sera Cahoone album is happening at Static ATX Records right now. It just arrived today and she is one of my favorite singer-songwriters. If you're into alt-country, good songwriting, and just feeling good then this might be up your alley.

This is going into the personal collection along with her other albums on my shelf.

Yesterday marked 23 years that Piranha Records in Round Rock, TX has been open. That is no small feat so I wanted to send out a hearty congratulations to John and his whole crew for all the hard work they've put into building that community!
