It’s officially spooky season and there are some scary good deals in the nursery as we kick off October 👻

With the soil still warm and the air cooling down, fall is the BEST time to plant trees, shrubs, and perennials.

Fall is finally unfolding 🍂

From classic golds, oranges and reds to unexpected pinks, bi-color purples, and striped bronzes, the blooms of the mums are starting to peek through their buds and put on a show.

Jesse made the annual corn pit jump, so you know what that means… Fall Festival is officially here! 🌽

We’ll see you tomorrow + Sunday from 10 AM–4 PM for one of our favorite weekends of the year.

Rain in the forecast? No problem. We’ve got tents, roofs, and great temperatures—so we’re celebrating rain or shine.

Come for the free kids’ activities, live music, food trucks, in-store specials, and all the fall fun you can fit into a weekend.

One of our biggest events of the year is almost here. 🍂

The Family Tree Nursery Annual Fall Festival returns to our Shawnee location September 26th & 27th, and everyone across Kansas City is invited to come celebrate the start of the season with us.

We’re packing the weekend with free activities for kids, including the corn pit and petting zoo, plus live music, food trucks, in-store specials, and plenty of fall color throughout the nursery. It’s two full days to bring the family, meet up with friends, shop for the season, and make a day of it.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our first ever ✨ We had NO idea how many of you would celebrate the first day of fall with us. What an extraordinary evening—we are so grateful to the community.

A special thank you to our vendors Café Equinox Tap That KC | Mobile Bar for adapting to a way bigger crowd than we prepared them for—and to our musicians Erica McKenzie KC’s Queen of Karaoke Monarch String Ensemble for creating a beautiful ambiance.

For the first time, we’re celebrating the Fall Equinox. Experience the magic of the greenhouse as the sun fades, the light changes, and the evening settles in—with live music, drinks, light bites, and good company.

Sugar maples get a lot of attention this time of year, and for good reason. 🍁 But they’re far from the only trees capable of putting on a show.
 
Nitro black gums turn brilliant red. Ginkgos light up in pure gold. And our favorite varieties of crabapples, dogwoods, serviceberries, dawn redwoods and sweetgums bring unique colors, shapes and textures to the fall landscape.
 
We couldn’t possibly fit everything into a 3-minute reel, so head over to YouTube to hear about Jonah’s favorite trees for fall color. He even explains a little of the science behind the color transformation, including why the same tree can look different from one fall to the next.
 
Fall is the best time to plant—and some of the trees featured are even on sale in the nursery this week. So I guess that means we’ll see you soon!

The Family Tree Nursery Annual Fall Festival returns to our Shawnee location September 26th & 27th.

Plus, plenty of fall color throughout the nursery. It’s two full days to bring the family, meet up with friends, shop for the season, and make a day of it.
