Spring Cleaning with Purpose 🤍

This past winter, our salon became something so much bigger than hair…

Together, we collected coats, shoes, gloves, hats, sleeping bags, tents, and blankets to support our houseless community—and because of you, so many people were cared for in a real and tangible way.

As we move into spring and summer, the needs are shifting—and we’re continuing this work alongside incredible local outreach teams.

After the recent storms, many individuals have lost what little they had. Right now, there is a high demand for gently worn tennis shoes, along with summer clothing and lightweight essentials.

So we’re opening our doors once again.

Ruby Blush Boutique is now an official drop-off location for:
• Gently worn tennis shoes (men’s & women’s, all sizes)
• Summer clothing
• Lightweight, warm-weather essentials

Our Itty-Bitty Pantry Network “Pantry Ninja” volunteers will ensure all donations are delivered directly to the outreach teams serving our unhoused neighbors.

✨ Something New is Growing Here 🐓💛

We’re so excited to share a new layer of support within the Itty-Bitty Pantry Network — and it’s coming straight from our own community.

One of our beautiful clients has offered a steady surplus of farm-fresh eggs from organically fed, pasture-raised chickens — happy, healthy birds that are deeply cared for (yes… they have names 🥹🐓).

Together, we’ve chosen a hybrid approach to make the greatest impact possible:

🥚 Available at the salon — $4 per dozen
(You’re always welcome to give more — 100% of proceeds go directly back into pantry food and supplies)

🥚 Also shared directly in local pantries
(Placed thoughtfully and weather-aware for safe access)

✨ A Little Education (because this matters)

These are unwashed eggs, which means they still have their natural protective layer called the “bloom.”

This bloom:
• Helps protect the egg from bacteria
• Allows it to remain stable at room temperature for a period of time
• Is how eggs were safely stored and used long before modern processing

Store-bought eggs are washed, which removes this layer and requires refrigeration — these are different, and we will be sharing guidance so people know how to handle them safely.

So instead of slowing down, we’re getting creative.

We’re launching a Monthly Community Drawing Initiative to keep donations flowing while bringing joy and engagement into the act of giving.

I let a few days go quiet.

Grief has a way of rearranging everything. And sometimes the questions about money and safety feel smaller when your heart is just trying to stay upright.

What I keep coming back to is this:

We matter to each other.

Everywhere we are.
Whatever we’re doing.
Whatever dreams we’re chasing.

The man in this photo sat with me every day on that beach. We talked about life, about family, about how strange it is that this planet holds such abundance — such beauty — such loving people — and yet it can feel so hard to share and care for one another.

I saved for over a year to take that trip. I work hard. He works hard. Different lives. Different realities.

But when we sat there in the sand, none of that mattered.

There was no transaction.
Just presence.

I watched him walk that beach in the blistering heat every day to support his family. And in between those long walks, we talked like old friends.

That connection touched my heart deeply.

I miss it.
I miss him.
I miss the feeling of being that open with someone I had just met.

I hope a seed was planted there in Puerto Vallarta.
I feel like I left a piece of myself on that beach.

And I hope, somehow, it grows into something beautiful.

With a heavy heart, I want to share that my family has experienced a profound loss. As a result, I will be taking a few additional days out of town to allow myself the time and space needed for self-care, solitude, and reflection.

I sincerely apologize to anyone whose appointment has been affected during this time. Please know that I will do my absolute best to get everyone rescheduled once I return, and I deeply appreciate your patience, kindness, and understanding.

I am incredibly grateful for the love, care, and condolences that have been extended to me. This community means more to me than I can express. Thank you for honoring my need for privacy as I take this time to regulate, breathe, and find some peace.

If you wait all year for the annual big bottle (liter) sale, the time is officially upon us.

As many of you remember from last year, I’m continuing the same simple, streamlined ordering process that worked so well:

• You send me what you’d like to order
• I send you an invoice
• Once invoices are paid, everything is added to the final order
• All products will be delivered to the salon early February

To keep things sustainable and manageable for the salon, only items that are pre-ordered and prepaid will be included. I won’t be carrying surplus liter bottles beyond this order, which allows me to offer this once-a-year pricing without excess storage.

After a meaningful season with us, Brooke Kenyon - Brizendine has transitioned into her own private practice and is now welcoming guests at Sacred Crown HeadSpa + Hair Studio. We are deeply grateful for the time, care, creativity, and presence she shared while working within the Ruby Blush space.

Ruby Blush Boutique Salon has always been a place of growth — a space where artists are supported, expanded, and often prepared for what comes next. We’re proud to have been part of Brooke’s journey and fully support her continued evolution.

🌤️ We’re entering a 5–6 day stretch above freezing, which means our neighborhood pantries can safely accept nearly everything right now — canned goods, boxed meals, pasta, rice, soups, sauces, and other shelf-stable staples.

✨ What this means for you:

🥫 You can place donations directly into the pantries right now
The temperatures are warm enough that items won’t be damaged, and our team will gladly rotate, organize, and move food between locations as needed to keep everything flowing.
