Today is International Firefighters' Day. You might not know a firefighter, but I have several of these amazing men in my family. Two of my brothers, my nephew, my oldest son, my oldest grandson, and my husband have given their lives to protecting and serving the residents of their communities. If I add up the years these 6 men have given to their communities it would be over 100 years of service. Family meals, family functions, birthdays, anniversaries and holidays were missed, but fire families pivot and understand that this job is really not a job, but a need to be there for all of us in our time of need.
So today I want to thank all of the firefighters that risk their lives every time they leave their homes to make sure we are safe. But also that we show them the honor and respect for dedicating their lives to save lives.
