Gods Country Outfitters Montana fly fishing outfitter and guide service

05/01/2022

Howdy friends! I hope anyone reading this is in good health and anxious to hit the water for some outstanding fly fishing this spring! It appears I have not posted anything here for a year and a half. Surprised my page was not removed for inactivity.
I would like to spread the word to all Montana Outfitters and anyone else with a website to be alert to website hacks. My website was recently hacked - twice! The first time by russians, the next time by the chinese. They were able to gain access thru outdated plugins and or other outdated components. Despite the fact everything was set up to update automatically, that did not happen with some of the stuff. The hack pretty much knocked my site out of the water for over a month, and cost me several hundreds of dollars to fix!
I'm not sure what the hack all consisted of, but instead of my page coming up, it displayed a page that said this page has been suspended by a "service provider". Apparently they added a bunch of pages to my site that linked to and directed traffic to several unrelated websites. Not sure what their goal or "end game" was, but it sure sucked.
I would recommend to everyone that has a website to double check that everything is current and up to date, and as secure as possible. Change your passwords occasionally as well. I hope you all will be spared the agony and expense of this happening to you! God Bless you all
and may your lines stay tight!

I am proud to announce that we have recently become the sole outfitter authorized to conduct South Fork Flathead River Float-Fishing trips in the Bob Marshall Wilderness under PawsUp Resorts forest service float permit - one of only three that exist! Not only that, but we have "stream-lined" operations to allow us to offer this trip for FAR LESS than our competitors. We have some availability for this season and are taking reservations for next season. Please contact us or visit our website for more details or to reserve your trip!

worked the Blackfoot canyon couple days ago. In spite of 15+ boats ahead of us, fishing was really good. lot's of bugs and fish rising to em. some d***s but mostly respectable fish topping out at 17". flows are holding very well - sure to be no hoot-owl this year. off to the South Fork in a few days for a couple trips. Looking forward to it after sitting out last season!

Hello everyone! It just occurred to me that not everyone is aware that we no longer offer big game hunting services. I 'retired' from outfitting and guiding hunters at the end of the 2016 season. We will continue to provide guiding services for fishing for many years to come. It may come as a real surprise to those of you that know me, but I am attempting to fill the financial "void" created by this decision by building an online retail store selling camping and survival gear. Progress is very slow but steady. I have an ample selection of products but have a long ways to go. I had to stop listing items to work on the SEO, marketing, and promotion. All of this is very time-consuming - especially for a guy like me who is just now trying to figure out how to use Facebook! If you get a chance, please visit my store: www.SurvivalGearShack.com, and share with friends. The traffic will help boost my google ranking. Thank you!

First guide day of 2018 on the Blackfoot. This is the earliest I've ever guided the Blackfoot. Fishing action was better than I expected, but we broke a rod landing this trophy sucker 10 minutes into the trip. The rainbow ate a new fly pattern I'm trying out - it's called a San Juan worm, anyone ever heard of these? getting the boats in and out is interesting. All the access sites and ramps are still severely snowed in leaving little room to park. Gotta drag boats a ways, but it's easy over a few feet of snow! Cool pic of elk standing in the middle of the river near Lincoln a few miles from home.

We haven't posted anything in some time now, I think we need to do some catching up. This spring has been beautiful in western Montana.Temps are ranging from low 50's to upper 70's.We are now into the spring/early summer fishingseason. This can be some of the best fishing of the season. Fishing has been going REALLY well so far. These past few weeks we are starting to see fish coming to the surface to eat. Ive been catching fish on streamers and nymphs in the mornings until it warms up. Then getting some dry fly action in the afternoons. Lots of Caddis and a variety of mayflies can be used to catch fish. Just a friendly reminder that the famous Salmon fly hatch isjust around the corner. A few have already been spotted. Call or email to book your days now!!
