Back in 1965, Ben Franklin first opened it's doors in the Meadowlane Shopping Center. It became a popular destination in the neighborhood, with many people growing up with great memories of the store. In the 90s, Carol Schoenleber took over the store and, while still maintaining the integrity of the "Ben Franklin" model, expanded into scrapbooking and gift items. In 2016, with a heavy heart, it was announced that the store would be closing. It was a very emotional time, for both the employees and for the customers who had grown up with the store and were passing it on to their own children. On June 4th, 2016, Ben Franklin closed it's doors for the last time. The original Ben Franklin store location has not been leased and still looks the same as the day the store closed. Carol and her family start joking about how they could create another store in the same space that they left a year ago. The more they joked about it, the more it started to become a reality. Fast forward again to September of 2017, when the lease has been signed, the space is being renovated, and the store is starting to order/receieve product. The main thing Carol and her family wanted to do was to create a brand new store with an essence of Ben Franklin. This is why the new store's name, "Franklin's Treasures and Treats," alludes to the old store. Customers coming to Franklin's will see how different the store is from their memories of Ben Franklin, as we have a brand new floor plan with a lot of new product. At the same time, they will see some traces of Ben Franklin. Franklin's is a work in progress, but we couldn't be more excited to see the direction it takes us! We hope you will come along for the journey.
