As A Novel Idea Bookstore gets ready to celebrate our 35th anniversary with a PARTY on Sun 9/20, I’ll be posting some old pics.
In June of 1991, Bryan Peterson & I opened shop in an unheated basement on 16th Street. I had 9 hours of UNL summer classes followed by 17 hours that fall semester.
I earned $3.85/hour working as a tutor - when I wasn’t in class or working on the bookstore. I did not have a car and walked everywhere. I was young, thank goodness. There’s something to be said for blind ambition.
I’m grateful to all of you who have helped this dream into being. 🥰
