On September 30, we recognize Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡

We remember the children who never came home. We honor the Survivors, their families, and their communities. And we recommit to listening, learning, and taking action.

At Bruyere Books & Tea, we believe in the power of stories to educate, to build empathy, and to help create a more just and respectful future. Our Indigenous authors and these books remind us that truth-telling matters, not just today, but every day.

We’ve put together a display of books by Indigenous authors, for all ages, if you’re looking for ways to learn, reflect, and support Indigenous voices. The display will be active September 30 - October 2, 2026.

Every child matters. Always. 🧡

The filling fell out, so Toothbert and I are headed back to the dentist.

Please respect Toothbert’s privacy during this difficult time. 😂

September still has a few stories left to tell. 🍂📚

Here’s what’s happening at Bruyere Books & Tea for the rest of the month:

🎸 Friday, September 18 • 6–7 PM
Plot Twist Hour
The lights go up, the rock music gets louder, and we spend the last hour of Friday doing bookstore things with considerably more guitar.

🎸 Friday, September 25 • 6–7 PM
Plot Twist Hour
Another Friday. Another hour of books, rock music, and a bookstore refusing to be quiet.

✍️📖 Saturday, September 26 • 3 PM
Author Reading & Signing
Join us for a special afternoon with a Minnesota author! We’ll have a reading, time to hear more about the book and the story behind it, and a book signing afterward.

Come for one. Come for all. Bring a fellow book person. 💜

Which do you think you’ll attend?

Don’t want to pick a book yourself?
Let us choose for you, and you don’t even have to talk to us. (But we’re very friendly.) You can grab one of our Blind Dates with a Book. We’ll give you a few clues, but the book itself stays a surprise. Or, if surprises aren’t your thing, head to the shelves by the back door and look for Jess Read This. Every book there is one I’ve personally read and recommend. No questions. No awkward conversation. No decision paralysis. Just walk in, find your next book, and go.

Don’t forget about our personalized shopping days!

On Mondays and Tuesdays, when Bruyere Books & Tea is normally closed, you can book a private shopping experience just for you.

Tell me what you love, what you’ve hated, what you’re in the mood for, or give me absolutely nothing but “I need a book” and let me work my bookseller magic. ✨

📖 30 minutes • $25
📚 60 minutes • $45

No crowds. No rushing. Just you, a whole bookstore, and a bookseller dedicated to finding your next great read.

Because sometimes you don’t need more choices. You need the right ones. 💜
