This white pine is so unique and so beautiful.

This raw material is sourced from the attics of homes built in the northeast United States in the 18th and 19th century. The ideal material is often super wide and unfinished. Then the original, aged patina is left untouched throughout the milling process and then is reinstalled with the old surface remaining as-is in all of its glory.

However, sometimes that darker patina is not desired, or in this case, the rest of the house floors were refinished at some point so a planed surface is desired in order to match the rest of the house.

The result is stunning and cannot be replicated.

We had the pleasure of providing beams, white pine threshing floor planks, and some for this beautifully crafted island. What a unique piece of functional furniture!

When these photos of reclaimed red oak were uploaded to an online site, there was an option to allow AI to assess the photos and craft a write up based on what it sees.

The funny part? It was fully convinced that this is white oak. That’s because while reclaimed red oak can still have reddish tones, the virgin growth wood naturally has a much tighter grain compared to new red oak and is very hard for the untrained eye to notice the difference, especially when stained and finished.

Long story short - don’t discredit reclaimed red oak just because you don’t like new red oak!

FATHER / SON.

With school out and a 12 year that is eager to earn money and learn a work ethic, my oldest son has been coming to work with me at least one day a week.
