This book is super fun and will keep your young ones engaged for hours examining these fun illustrations. AND, they hone visual discrimination skills - critical for reading. But don’t tell them they’re learning. šŸ˜‰

This is for all you mamas of littles…hang in there. Every season has joys and challenges. Soak in the joy as often as you can. That is what you will miss.

I was looking through photos of the kids from 10+ years ago and was weepy over how beautiful, magical, and sweet life looked. The toddlers looked so chubby and delicious. The lunchboxes and meals looked so homesteady. The nostalgia for just one more of those simple, sweet days was strong.

But when I’m honest, I remember how stressed I was about finding a babysitter so I could get more work done.

I was stressed about getting my toddler to stay in her bed and how to help my four year-old face her fears. I was nervous/felt guilty about my baby boy and how I threw in the towel with breastfeeding so early (ā€œwould he be ok?ā€ spoiler alert: aside from a slight Roblox addiction at 11 years old, yes).

All of the same issues existed in those sepia-toned photographs, but in hindsight, they disappear.

I’m not going to tell you to ā€œenjoy todayā€ or ā€œlive in the momentā€ because we’re moms and have a lot to do and much on our plates.

But what helped me love today, this morning as I made my tea in my coffee maker (for no reason, just wanted to see if I could) was to think about the goodness of God.

Life doesn’t always feel as dreamy as a photograph. I have homeschool things to read over. An insane amount of laundry to fold. Books I hope to write if I get a minute. School stuff to sort out.

Life is full in the moment…but God is always good. He’s gotten me through a lot of stuff. Jesus has been my friend and savior in the most perfect sense of that word.

There are still dishes, kid issues, a million places to declutter, emails, and things to think about but the Lord is my Shepherd and with Him I can lay down in green pastures and beside still waters anytime.

I love old photos. But I have stillness today because of Him. So I’m grateful. Even in the wildness of motherhood, it’s cozy because God is here today. His presence is like a quilt that has stayed though the years and this mama definitely needs a blanket or five. So, I’m grateful. Cozy. Covered.

Off we go to do mommy things. šŸŽ€
