Well, I have been back from FL for just over a month and the store has been open every Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. Signs have been posted on both Rt 3 and Rt 201. Our "OPEN" flag has been dancing in the wind hanging on our sign in front of the house. The result has been ... to say disappointing would be putting a positive tone to this report. There have been les than 10 patrons, only 4 of whom made purchases.

I have been selling our wares on ebay for a year now and without those sales the store would have closed for good last winter. We are at a crossroads. I do not want to waste either time or energy or money pursuing a retirement hobby that was not to make a lot of money but to find new homes for eclectic treasures at well below antique store prices. It just hasn't worked as planned.

We will continue to keep the shop open on both Friday and Saturday and by chance if I am home through July. At that point we will make some tough decisions.

It has always been "The thrill of the hunt" that has beckoned me to plow through old houses and sheds and estate sales along with the occasional auction and yard sale. Always sifting through the pile to see if there is something else there. I have been rewarded many times and sought to pass these things along to you. Open this weekend Friday and Saturday 9 to 4. We have a number of new items I brought back from my 6 month sojourn in south Florida. These include Hand carved Black Folk Art woman's head in silhouette; A wooden disk featuring dancers in a circle with each figure outlined with inlaid metal; a collection of planters and vases, including an unsigned Weller and several by Brush McCoy; a vintage collection of brightly painted lead cowboys and Indians, a WWII soldier, and tootsie toy metal train cars; two 1930-40's Cast iron fire trucks; a genuine Swiss hand painted cow bell and a generous list of interesting, rare, collectable, and unusual items. And, of course, with our pricing promise that our listed figure is merely a starting point. On existing stock even deeper discounts will be the rule of the day. The store is now open for the Summer and Jack is returning from his annual winter sojourn in Florida this weekend and bringing back treasures for the store he found while there.

Well, winter has thrust upon us via an unannounced 7" snowstorm. Last Saturday was our final scheduled day until Spring. Jack is leaving for Avon Park, FL on the 12th and hopefully can find some good stuff in his travels. Meanwhile, Larry will have a few sales over the winter, maybe once a month.
