The gear is coming in and we're stoked to be welcoming La Sportiva footwear to Rox and River!! La Sportiva is by far the number 1 choice for trail runners and hikers in our local PA Wilds region, and definitely the top pick among our crew here at R+R. The tread is designed perfectly to grip and stick on our rocky, slippery terrain, and the uppers take a serious beating and keep on kicking. If you've spent any time on the Midstate or Black Forest Trails, you know exactly what we're talking about...and if you haven't -- get ready to swing by and grab a pair of hikers or trail runners and a Purple Lizard map and check out the amazing terrain and stunning vistas right here in our backyard!

We'll be adding to our collection as we grow, so if there's a particular style you want to try out, don't be shy about letting us know. Our goal is to bring YOU the gear you want and need to grab all of the adventures on your list. We can't wait to hear all about where your La Spos take you!!

Sometimes you have to make the mess worse in order for it to get better. Over the last 2 months our new space has undergone a pretty good gutting - new paint, new floors, more paint, new bathrooms, every little thing torn out and removed, new walls, neverending relentless buckets of paint. It's been a labor of love over here! It's also been pretty awesome seeing all of you out there trying to peer through the dusty windows to see what the heck is going on in here. ⚒️🖤

We're finally nearing the end of this indoor demolition derby and starting to build out the space to hold all the good gear. Hoping to open our doors sometime in mid to late June -- we'll keep you updated as we go. Check back for details on the new gear coming in and all the dates as we have them!!

The Grassroots Mycology team threw down an awesome workshop yesterday! Sawyer and Craig know their stuff when it comes to mushrooms, the pizza with freshly foraged mushrooms and leeks for lunch was killer, and it was great to see a solid crew of local trail runners show up for the day. Loved it so much that we decided to bring the Grassroots Mycology team to our new store for another workshop once we open! We'll post the date for you all as soon as we have it. More good stuff on the schedule and we're not even open yet...!

For all you Shroomers and people who just generally like finding snacks in the woods -- our local buddies at Grassroots Mycology have put together this seriously awesome mushroom foraging and cultivation workshop coming up next Saturday. They only have a handful of spots left, but you could be the people who grab 'em! The event is May 16th in Barbours, PA, 10am-6pm. The guys running it are super cool trail folks. The artist who designed the logo also happens to be a legendary trail runner right here in PA, and our very own little print shop (ReVibe Gear) had the joy of printing up some pretty sick shirts for the event.

Behind the scenes of Rox and River: Day 1

After years of dreaming and building toward this, the phone rang when I least expected it. We were sitting in The Bullwheel (a bar at the summit of Mt Snow, Vermont), drinking a pre-lunch Focal Banger on a snowboard/ski trip. The call was from my contact at the city who said she had found an awesome space available that she wanted us to see right away.

Two days later, we walked through the door straight from VT and still wearing snow pants. We toured the space along with some city reps and despite all the unknowns ahead, my instincts said it was time to leap and this was the exact right location for us.

The space would need a whole heck of a lot of love, work, and creativity, but we all saw the potential. The name and branding had been ready to go for nearly a year. I knew what I wanted to see it become, and I knew we had the kind of team that would dive right in and bring the vision to life if I signed on.

So after 9 years of work put in to arrive there, February 3rd, 2026 officially became Day 1 of Rox and River Adventure Co.
