Needlepoint Scooping!

If you use stretcher bars… keep scrolling. This is for us in-hand stitchers only 😂

My daughter Elle said it perfectly, it’s like you’re predicting where your next stitch would start.

It’s about rhythm. Minding your tension. Keeping the loops out of the way. Try it a few times before you decide if you like it or not. It does speed up your stitching tremendously 🤩

Why does it matter? Helps with pilling. (Especially w silk & ivory) Helps with striating.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell which is end which. If I can’t decide the good end from the bad, I make an executive decision and stick with that same end going forward.

Go with the flow - or in this case, the grain.

Thank you for the pro tip!

Sunday Tips

1. Bury thread vertically or horizontally. Not diagonally. It will warp your canvas.

2. Pull from the same end of your thread. It’s easy to do from a card, harder from a skein. Thread has a grain. This will cut down on a striated look.

3. Not a tip but… has anyone used Milan cards on 18? Legend has it that because it is wound on a card it is somewhat thinner than the Milan skein.

Would love to hear your thoughts!
