I can’t even count how many times I’ve started typing “as the mother of a young brown boy, I am terrified…” This shouldn’t be our reality. This shouldn’t be the world our babies exist in. To live with the fear of my child being out in the world as a target simply for the way he looks, is not what any parent signs up for. It’s not what any child should live through. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain and heartbreak 💔 of the parents of Cyrus Carmack-Belton and John Mendoza Jr. May they rest in peace and their memories fullfil some sort of change against injustice.
