The new season of American Idol premiers Feb 27, 2022 and this year also marks a very special milestone for the show, 2022 marks the 20th Anniversary of the first season of American Idol- The over seas cross over of the Uks hit television show, Pop Idol...
We all know who was crowned the first winner of the first season of American Idol right? Of course we do, Mega Star Grammy and Emmy Award Winning Singer/Talk Show host and the current Winning coach on The Voice, The lovable, The profitable, America's Sweetheart since 2002, Kelly Clarkson.
But do you know who set the bar that first season? You might not remember his name but you might remember his moment during Hollywood week on the innagural season of the ground breaking television show that changed television forever. Jules Sanchez was the first contestant to get that elusive ticket to Hollywood

Setting the bar for every contestant after him and opening the doors for every non traditional looking popstar to come after 2002. One die hard fan jokes saying "He was like the Jesus Christ of American Idol, he was crucified on that Idol stage for the salvation of those contestants who didn't fit the pop star mold, type or look of the early 2000s" Jules was told to lose 100lbs the first season after offering to workout with Idol judge Randy Jackson. He was then called a loser by Simon Cowell after pointing out to Simon "You talk about Originality" (following quote was cut from the program)" You're wearing all black with a mean spirit from the UK and America has already experienced Anne Robinson from The British crossover show, The weakest Link ")....."so your personas not original".
Never did they show Paula telling Jules "You have the best voice I have ever heard" or Simon telling him "Jules You can sing anything and it would sound good". 6 months after being rejected again by another Fox reality competition show, Jules would appear as a featured dancer in the American Idol Season 3 Ford Focus Music Video "Boogie Wonderland" with Fantasia Diana jasmine Latoya and George SKIP to 4:30 into the video

a few more years later Jules would complete the trifecta, the Trinity of FOX talent reality shows becoming the only contestant from A.I. SYTYCD? to appear on "Don't Forget The Lyrics" with host Wayne Brady winning 10,000.00 and being told by Brady "Jules , You have the best voice we have had on this show. You should try out for that other FOX singing reality show"
Jules was instructed not to talk about American Idol by producers and replied "we can't talk about that Wayne Brady we can not talk about that" Fox ended up shelving his episode but paid him his winnings because they used a clip of Jules doing a cartwheel in the opening credits of DFTL.
19 years later Jules would be a guest on and part of another groundbreaking television show with fellow Idol Alum and Winner The Kelly Clarkson show all because of a photo that appeared in The Daily Mail
