I didn’t mean to keep referring to Frank Miller in the past tense. He’s very much alive and I’m still a big fan. I won’t lie and say his recent stuff has been my favorite of his career, but artists evolve, and he’s earned the grace to he able to explore the extremities of his expression. Ultimately, it’s the fans who decide whether they want to buy the product or not.

I will defend this hill till my dying day. Pryde of the X-Men should have gone on as an animated series. It was just better in almost every way than the 1990s series, practically anime-level. It even had an intro and partial narration by Stan Lee . Such a missed opportunity.

Eastern Promises isn’t a film that was necessarily made for geeks, but I’m giving love from the community because of the geek cred that Mortensen and Cronenberg already have (LoTR, The Fly, etc), and the other film they made together, “A History of Violence” was based on a comic.

It’s a hot take, but it’s one that I stand by. I still can’t watch that original 90s series, but X-Men 97 is amazing by comparison and I’m really stoked for season two.

Newer inventory can usually be ordered from the distributors, but secondary market product often comes in through the door from people who are looking to get liquid for one reason or another. There’s a lot of stuff I have to turn away because it just doesn’t fit with what we sell, but there’s never a shortage of people who are looking to make changes to their collections .

I think my favorite era of Transformers would probably be the original Beast Wars until it became Beast Machines. That early generation computer generated animation was kind of rough, but the storytelling was top-notch. I also really appreciate the War For Cybertron Netflix stuff. Solid animation and story.

Collectibles are fun things to spend money on, but we shouldn’t treat them like stocks that are liquid. You might get lucky and be able to turn a profit on items here and there, but don’t expect to be able to do that all the time unless this is your job.
