Firefighter of the month!! šŸ˜… This was an unexpected honor to be nominated for. A 9 year journey to getting hired and now 9 years on the LAFD. Iā€™m thankful for the lessons learned along the way the people that came along side me to peruse this career path.

šŸ“£Introducing Octoberā€™s Firefighter of the Month: Firefighter/Paramedic Allen JanzenĀ at Fire Station 102.

Janzenā€™s path to the LAFD is a testament to perseverance. After discovering his passion for the fire service at age 10, he spent nine years preparing, joining the Cadet program, working as an EMT and paramedic, serving on Crew 3, and teaching future medical professionals while applying through multiple hiring freezes.

He was hired at age 27, bringing more than 15 years of paramedic experience to the Department. Today, he serves , where he mentors paramedic interns and continues to advance his training as an instructor.

Janzen is also the founder of Firefighter Crafted, a firefighter-made shop that supports injured, disabled, and fallen firefighter families.

ā€œIā€™m grateful for the opportunity to help people in desperate situations,ā€ Janzen emphasized. ā€œItā€™s a career that Iā€™m truly passionate about.ā€

Life is a blessing that we shouldnā€™t take for granted. As a firefighter, I see the unfortunate reality of trauma and lifeā€™s tragedies. But, Iā€™m thankful for the opportunity to come along side people when they need it most.

Our Firefighter Crafted family is committed to that same purpose. We step up when other fire families are going through their own tragedy. But, none of this would be possible without the continued support from you. We appreciate the ways many people have supported the various firefighter fundraisers this past year. Even first responders need first responders sometimes.

Thank you for joining us on our mission, to give back to firefighters that have been injured, disabled, and to the families of fallen firefighters. Please cherish each moment with your loved ones and donā€™t take life for granted.

Great time at The Masterā€™s University Fall Career Fair this past week! At our booth, students were able to learn about Firefighter Crafted, the fire service career, and several people earned free FFC merch. šŸ”„

First impressions happen once. Make that moment count! ā€œThe Master Interviewā€ - I had the privilege of giving students mock interviews as they prepare for entering the work force. Whether itā€™s a career in business/finance, the fire service, or a law profession, the interview is KEY!

Cancer survivor - FF Daniel Chavez. After battling stage 3 colon cancer with brutal treatments, Daniel is now one year in remission. He is back working as a firefighter and holding life, family, and the fire service with gratitude.

It was great to see him at the Salute to Firefighters Festival. His station was helping cook lunch to support with the association.
