⚡️ **INSIDE THE ELECTRIC KILN** ⚡️
A Hands-On Firing Intensive
We’re very excited to offer a new kind of workshop at Sooki — **four focused hours dedicated entirely to understanding what actually happens inside an electric kiln.**
Kiln firing is one of those parts of ceramics that’s often learned through trial and error (and sometimes some expensive mistakes). This intensive is designed to take away some of that mystery and give you the practical knowledge to approach firing with more confidence.
We’ll start with the fundamentals — firing schedules, cones, controllers, kiln furniture, safety + troubleshooting — and then open up the kiln and spend the second half of the workshop **hands-on, working through how to load both bisque + glaze firings.**
We’ll talk spacing, shelves + posts, maximizing kiln space, preventing glaze accidents, loading large + sculptural work, and most importantly, **why the decisions you make when loading a kiln matter.**
This workshop is for anyone who sends their work out for firing and wants to know what happens next, is considering buying a kiln or setting up a home studio, has started firing independently but still has questions, or simply wants a deeper understanding of the firing process.
**No previous kiln experience required + all experience levels welcome.**
