What went wrong?

Before football kits became cleaner and more template-driven, goalkeeper jerseys were often the most experimental pieces on the pitch.

From Jorge Campos’ self-designed Mexico kits to Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi’s flame-covered Asics shirt for Japan, the 90s gave keepers oversized silhouettes, padded construction, surreal graphics and color palettes closer to ravewear than traditional sportswear.

The need to standout was replaced by more safe and easier to sponsor brand designs

The artist 👇

KY is an Ivorian artist who transforms her own hair into intricate sculptural works inspired by African history, culture, and identity.

Using wire, braids, extensions, and remarkable technical skill, she creates elaborate forms that explore themes of feminism, colonialism, self-love, freedom, and representation.

Ky’s artistic journey began after discovering archival photographs of women across pre-colonial West Africa wearing highly sculptural hairstyles. The images revealed a rich visual language that had been largely overlooked, showing how hair once served as far more than decoration. (Fondazione Imago Mundi)

In many African societies, hairstyles communicated age, social status, religion, ethnicity, wealth, or marital status, while also carrying spiritual and cultural significance. Rather than drawing from one specific tribe or region, Ky’s work reimagines the diverse hairstyling traditions found across West Africa before colonization. (Fondazione Imago Mundi)

Through her sculptures, she transforms hair into a living medium that preserves memory, celebrates heritage, and reclaims narratives shaped by colonial beauty standards.

‘Meme’ looks that made people listen 👇

Oliver Tree turned personal style into world-building. Every era came with its own character, from the indie “Tree” days to Turbo’s bowl cut and wraparound shades, the cowboy phase, and the surreal Edna-inspired looks. Instead of treating fashion as an accessory to the music, he used it as a marketing tool that made each album instantly recognizable before you even pressed play.

We will have these looks in our heads probably forever

What DR Congo wore to world cup 👇

As the team arrived in Houston, they stepped out in custom looks featuring leopard print details and matching bags designed by , last time qualifying in 1974.

The leopard wasn’t chosen at random. It’s a nod to the Leopards, the national team’s nickname, and to former president Mobutu Sese Seko, whose signature leopard-skin hat became one of the most recognizable symbols of Congolese political history.

More than a team arrival, it felt like a statement. After half a century away from football’s biggest stage, DR Congo made sure the world noticed.
