Yesterday I embarked on a very special journey to pick up a wonderful collection from famous Canadian entomologist Stéphane Le Tirant. It was a beautiful and easy journey listening to my favorite song of the summer!

I crossed back over the U.S. border this morning with over 18,000 insect specimens, of which 800 species have never been offered for sale by BioQuipBugs before! Also in the collection are almost 600 amazing entomology books, many of which are out-of-print, rare, or antique. Be sure to check out the new arrivals page on bioquipbugs.com frequently as new 🦋🪲 🦗 🐝 species and 📖 books are added and become available!

This is the Dwarf Honey Bee
( florea)

The dwarf honey bee (or red dwarf honey bee) has a much wider distribution
than its sister species, Apis andreniformis. Apis florea have open nests and
small colonies, which makes them more susceptible to predation than cavity
nesters with large numbers of defensive workers. The species is an important
pollinator in many parts of its range and its nests are occasionally exploited
as a source of wild honey
