This summer marks 53 years since the founding of Brentwood Communications.

The first photo takes me back to the early days. In 1973, I was a young man with a passion for electronics, communications, and technology. What started as a small business built on hard work, curiosity, and a commitment to doing things right has grown into a company that has served Southern California for more than five decades.

The second photo reminds me that no matter how long you’ve been in business, you never stop learning. Technology continues to evolve at an incredible pace, and one of the things I’ve always enjoyed most is staying current, exploring new solutions, and finding better ways to serve our clients.

The third photo represents something even more important, our team. Brentwood Communications has never been just about me. It is about the talented people who have worked alongside me over the years and the dedicated staff who continue to help our clients every day. Their professionalism, knowledge, and commitment are a big part of our success.

Over the past 53 years, we’ve seen everything from rotary telephones and analog systems to today’s smart homes, security systems, networking, lighting control, audio/video, and automation technologies. While the technology has changed dramatically, our commitment to quality workmanship, personal service, and taking care of our clients has remained the same.

To our clients, employees, industry partners, friends, and family, thank you for being part of this journey. Your trust and support have made these 53 years possible.

Reflecting on the legacy of Reverend Jesse Jackson, I recall the time when we installed telephones in his campaign office in downtown Los Angeles during his presidential run. It’s a vivid memory to have had the chance to speak with him. Rest in peace, Jesse Jackson.

I would be remiss if I did not mention today that I could not have imagined beyond my wildest dreams where the idea of one company that could install security, telephones, stereo, and control systems would have led me over the last fifty years. As we proudly celebrate Brentwood Communications' 50th anniversary this year, I am filled with immense gratitude as I reflect on the extraordinary journey that began five decades ago. I remember last year’s recognition from our city, state, and local officials, acknowledging our half-century in business. Today, standing on the threshold of a new era, I am filled with optimism and enthusiasm for what the future holds.

Looking back to the summer of 1973, the remarkable progress of Brentwood Communications since its inception becomes evident. When I started this company, fax machines, cell phones, surround sound systems, cordless phones, the internet, and countless other technological innovations were merely visions of the future. The advancements we have witnessed are truly remarkable, and the possibilities that lie ahead are beyond our wildest imaginations.

Throughout these fifty years, one principle has remained constant: the enduring human need for entertainment, communication, and security. I have always believed that no matter what advances lie ahead, people will always want to be entertained, able to communicate, or feel secure. The only difference is the way in which those services are provided and delivered, from the corded phone to the cell phone, from rabbit ears to streaming video in the palm of your hand. This fundamental desire for connection has been at the core of our mission.

To our valued clients across diverse fields—lawyers, doctors, politicians, entertainers, and sports figures—you all have left an indelible mark. Your trust, support, and partnership have been instrumental to our success. Many of you have become cherished friends, and for this, I am deeply grateful.
As we celebrate our past achievements, we also look forward to embracing the promising opportunities ahead. Let us continue to innovate, connect, and secure the future.

Today. I had the opportunity to go to one of the installations we did in 1980 where are we installed the pre wiring for telecommunications, master antenna/cable tv, security and music systems and then the finish. Long before inwall speakers were invented we took ADS speakers and flushed them into the wall. We also built our own switching control so as to give the client separate on/ off control and volume control in each room as well as system off. After all the years the system still works. Not too ­­much has changed other than the streaming music device we added. .

This was at the truly the dawn of custom installation which began for us seven years before in 1973. The first in wall speakers came to be in 1984.... back in the day telephones utilized 25 pair cable and the beginnings of digital phone systems were just beginning.... What made todays visit memorable was that the systems we designed and installed some 43 years ago still works worked as good as the day we installed it.

It was fun to look back as we celebrate Brentwood Communications 50 years in business later this year.

As I remember legendary Dodgers announcer Vin Scully, I recall the times we worked at his house. Vin would always answer the phone 🎶 singing hello.

Another memory was when I set up a karaoke machine for his wife Sandy, after I hooked it up and said it was all set, she said demonstrae it for me, So she and I sang karaoke together. Farewell Vin and thanks for the memories both on and off the field. ⚾️ 🎙💙
