I had so much excitement in me finally getting promoted into appellate criminal defense from the trial court level. Until it sunk in that I’m going to have to now go to a new courthouse. So In honor of mentally preparing to go to a new courthouse tomorrow, throwback to this video three years ago.

I think the hardest part of failing was knowing I’d have to admit it out loud. I carried so much shame and anger toward myself for letting something I once loved slip away while I was fighting battles in nearly every other part of my life and simply didn’t have enough of myself left to give to everything. But saying it publicly finally made me realize I’m not the same girl who started Royalty Cosmetics at 26. I’m 33 now, and somewhere along the way, my life changed, I changed, and so did my dreams. Let’s get something straight. I am NOT saying to slow down on the fight for justice in Ms. Clancy’s case. But keep that same energy for the ENTIRE group of mentally ill people facing criminal charges.
Also side note— maybe wait to speak on criminal cases until you hear actual ✨criminal attorneys✨ speak on them first. Bc yall be ruining lives and spreading misinformation for funsies and views. This is people’s real lives.

there will never be a moment i don’t talk about mental health. for as long as i can remember, even as a kid, i have felt an indescribable amount of agony and pain. i would lay in bed crying, screaming and begging to any God out there listening to take the pain away. and multiple times in my life, i decided the answer was leaving. it’s not. As someone diagnosed with several mental health conditions, i know this is an everyday struggle. it’s not something a silly little video can fix. but the good parts of life, they’re worth fighting for. you’re worth fighting for. i love you.

My 30s are by far the best decade of my life so far. I sometimes can’t comprehend how vastly different, in the best way possible, my life has become at 32 from any year in my 20s. So here’s to continuing to learn more about myself, unlearn self hate and patriarchal brainwashing, and finding the strength to create my dream life. I hope everyone struggling right now holds on because life does get better. You will find peace and happiness.
