🚨🚨🚨Signed by Sam Contis āœļø

Overpass explores what it means to move through—and across—the landscape. Walking along centuries old footpaths through the English countryside, Contis turns her lens toward stiles: humble structures that allow passage over walls and fences while revealing the complex history of enclosure and ownership.

These forms become sculptural markers of movement, access, decay, and change. Accompanied by an essay by Daisy Hildyard, Overpass invites us to consider who owns space, how we cross boundaries, and how we have—and continue to—shape the natural world.

New in the store: If Emmett Till Lived: A Creative Monument, edited by Sarah Elizabeth Lewis

Developed in collaboration with Reverend Wheeler Parker Jr., Emmett Till’s cousin, best friend, and last surviving witness to his kidnapping, this publication asks a powerful question: What if Emmett Till lived?

Featuring photographs by more than 110 artists alongside original essays by Lonnie G. Bunch III, Vinson Cunningham, Paul Farber, Sherrilyn Ifill, Sarah Elizabeth Lewis, Siddhartha Mitter, JeneƩ Osterheldt, and Patrick Weems, the book imagines the years Till was denied while reflecting on freedom, memory, and the ongoing work of confronting American history.

Praise the stars, and everything that we can sense by scent below. Praise the rain, and skin and decay. Mystery and science. Praise narcissus, clove, brimstone, to***co and oakmoss. We can’t explain how amazing this book is. Advances of Saskia Wilson-Brown’s ā€˜The Cultures of Perfume: Scents that Shaped History’ arrived today. Literally every page is fascinating. But also: the design. The paper, the ribbon. The colors. The image selection. The index. This is the future best and smartest book on Perfume.

RESTOCKED: Miyoko Ito: Heart of Hearts šŸ’›šŸŖŸ

The first book dedicated to the life and work of Japanese American artist Miyoko Ito… Heart of Hearts brings together more than 100 plates, archival materials, a 1978 interview with Ito, and a biographical essay by Jordan Stein. An essential look at an extraordinary artist whose paintings remained largely unknown beyond Chicago during her lifetime—and a long overdue place for Ito within the history of postwar American art.

Newly unpacked: Discharge by Petra Collins šŸŽ€šŸ©øšŸŽ€

Collins’ first photobook brings together intimate, unfiltered images of femininity, friendship, sexuality, and growing up in an era of hypermediated bodies. Tender, confrontational, and deeply personal, Discharge captures the artist’s early visual language and her challenge to the ways women are taught to see—and police—themselves.

Handmade Utopia: Back to the Land Architecture in Northern California explores the homes, lives, and radical ideals of the movement that took root across Northern California in the 1960s and 70s.

Via Michael Schmelling’s photographs, David Jacob Kramer’s oral histories, and archival material, this book uncovers handmade homes hidden deep in redwood forests, and the stories of the people who built them—an expansive record of a disappearing architectural and social experiment.
