Been slowly chipping away at this chunk of a table top. I picked this slab up In Texas on my way home from dropping some tables off in Corpus Christi. I thought it was super cool with lots of character. The man I bought it from is around the same age as me. We figured we’d just toss this guy up in the back of the truck cause we do this all the time. Well a 50”x32”x 4” of live oak is a lot heavier than you’d ever think. We both played it off well like meh no big deal as we both said some choice words under our breath. Once in the truck I noticed something in the side of the slab. Once we looked closer we found an old electrical insulator had been eaten by this monster slab but still enough exposed to tell what it is. I’m glad he cut this tree where he did cause it’s kind of a cool extra to go with this awesome tabletop. The unique grain in this wood was something to be proud of because sanding it was just about as hard as getting it in the truck. Well worth the reward. It’s sitting on some legs for a different table cause maybe the buyer would like to design or match the base to something they already have. It’s now available with a lil room to add any touches you might want to make it exactly how you want it.
