Everyone, please check out our horse farms and some of the amazing hats that she does. We have plenty in the shop!!!
The woman behind the art... Monica of High Horse Farm (me!)
I grew up in the suburbs of Chesterfield, Virginia, but when I got my first horse at nine years old, something changed.
The country called me, and I have never lived another day without horses in my life.
I didn't grow up on a farm. I dreamed of one.
In my early twenties, my husband and I bought six acres and started building the life I'd imagined since I was that little girl. There wasn't a picture-perfect farm waiting for us. We built it over the years... fences, barns, projects, animals, mistakes, memories and a whole lot of figuring things out as we went.
And here we are.
I've spent most of my adult life doing what needed to be done. Building a career. Raising a family. Taking care of animals. Showing up. Solving problems. And figuring things out when there wasn't a damn instruction manual.
But there's another side of me, too. I don't really do anything halfway. My ADHD brain can grab onto an idea, flip into hyperfocus, and suddenly I'm going from zero to 100 mph.
And you know what?
I freaking love it.
I thrive there.
Give me an idea I'm excited about and I'll research it, teach myself how to do it, obsess over the details, make mistakes, change it, improve it and probably have three more ideas before I've finished the first one.
Some people might call that a little much. I call it Tuesday. 😂
At 49, I'm realizing that becoming yourself doesn't have an expiration date. I can be responsible and still be wild. Successful and still dream about something completely different. A wife and a mom and still have dreams that belong only to me.
I can love horses, make art, build something from nothing, change directions, take chances and occasionally run headfirst into something just because I need to know if I can do it.
That horse-crazy nine-year-old girl from the suburbs heard the country calling.
She followed it.
She didn't find the life she wanted.
She built the damn thing.
Then, came the hats. Its the perfect collision of all the things in my life.
I burned my first hat back in November of 2025 and never looked back. My hyperfocus took off and Im loving every minute of it. The hours of time I spend on these hats is part of myself poured into each one. All those dreams and passions come out in my work and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Turns out, I wasn't finished growing.
Not even close. 🌻
